"Land ho!" Nami called out from her spot in the crow's nest of the Thousand Sunny.
Luffy jumped up excitedly from his special seat at the head of the ship. "An island? Yosh, let's go!"
The rest of the Straw Hat Pirates looked up eagerly at the navigator's announcement. After weeks at sea, they were all ready to get off the ship and stretch their legs on solid ground again.
"How long until we reach it?" Usopp asked.
Nami peered through her spyglass. "At our current speed, I'd say about two hours."
"Two hours?" Luffy whined. "That's so long!"
"Stop your whining!" Sanji yelled from the kitchen door. "If you're bored, make yourself useful and catch us some fish for dinner."
Luffy's eyes lit up. "Fishing? Yosh, I'm on it!" He hurried off to grab a pole.
"You're trusting Luffy to fish for us?" Nami deadpanned as she looked at Sanji who only looked back at her with heart eyes.
Zoro cracked open a sleepy eye from where he was napping against the mast. "Keep it down, will ya?"
"C'mon Zoro, let's fish!" Luffy said, shoving a pole into the swordsman's hands.
Zoro grunted but allowed himself to be pulled along. If it would keep his hyperactive captain occupied for a while, he was willing to indulge him.
The two sat at the rear of the ship, casting their lines out into the calm blue waters. For a while, Luffy managed to stay focused, cheering whenever he reeled in a fish. But it wasn't long before his short attention span got the better of him.
"Ugghh, this is taking forever!" he complained, flopping onto his back dramatically. "I wanna get to the island nooow."
"Quit whining," Zoro said around the fishing line held loosely between his teeth as he placed his recently caught fish into a bucket. "We'll get there when we get there."
Luffy sat back up and glared out at the distant speck of land on the horizon. "But it's right there! I wanna explore it already." A mischievous grin crossed his face. "I know, I'll stretch over and check it out first."
Zoro's hand snapped out and grabbed Luffy by the back of his vest before he could rocket himself overboard. "Oh no you don't. You know the rules - no wandering off alone."
"Aww, but Zorooo," Luffy whined. "I wanna go on an adventure!"
"You can wait two hours like everyone else."
Luffy stuck out his tongue petulantly. "You're no fun."
Zoro simply rolled his eye and went back to fishing, ignoring his pouting captain.
After a few more fruitless minutes of fishing, Luffy grew bored again. His eyes landed on the swordsman's three katana propped up against the railing, and a mischievous grin crossed his face.
"Ne, Zoro, can I see Kitetsu?" he asked innocently.
Zoro's eyes narrowed suspiciously. "No."
"Aww c'mon, just for a second!"
"Absolutely not. You'll cut your idiot hand off."
"I'll be careful, I promise!" Luffy pleaded, hands clasped together beseechingly.
But Zoro was having none of it. "No swords for you. Go bug someone else."
"You're no fun at all," Luffy huffed. He stared contemplatively at the swords for a moment before an idea struck him. A wide, slightly devious grin spread across his face.
