Song- Girl Almighty
All the love. x

Eight years later-
Pax's POV:

At 5'9", basketball was easy, it was the rest of my life that felt like a constant struggle. Kids were mean, but my teammates knew me well enough that it felt like I had 9 sisters instead of being an only child. I started playing when I was four, and had quickly developed in four years. The doctors predicted that I would be 6'3" by the time I was ten and at least 6'7" by 14. Oh how fun my future was going to be.

Once I started basketball, I stayed with my uncles when my parents traveled so I could still play. I missed them at times and in two days, my dad was coming home to get me.

"Pax, you hungry love?" Louis yelled from the kitchen.

"Coming!" I sighed, pausing the game and running down the back stairs straight into the kitchen.

"There's my favorite niece. I made you a grilled cheese." I gave him a skeptical look, knowing how awful he was in the kitchen.

"Okay, okay," he sighed, "I bought it from Starbucks, but it's the thought that counts."

"You can't bullshit me, you've taught me too well."

"Language."

"Just saying what you taught me."

"You're too sassy to only be eight."

"I'll be nine in a week."

"Still. I've taught you too well."

"You've prepared me for life a-ok."

"Eat. Your dad would kill me if he knew what I've been feeding you," Lou laughed, ruffling my hair as I took a bite of the lukewarm grilled cheese. It wasn't half bad, it could've been a little bit hotter.

"Candy and fast food isn't so bad. My metabolism is fast enough."

"How are you so smart?"

"You don't start fifth grade when you're eight for nothing. I think I get it from dad."

"Your mom is brilliant, even more so than your dad."

"Mom's a hard ass."

"Oi! Language!" Liam scolded, walking through the back door.

"You know it's true," I laughed, blushing slightly.

"How are you, babe?" he beamed, kissing my cheek.

"I miss dad."

"You don't miss your mum?"

"I do, but I'm closer with dad. He gets me."

"Well, I missed you, love. I swear you're getting bigger and bigger everyday."

"I'm taller than Lou now."

"There's no way you're 5'9" already. Last we measured you, you were 5'7"."

"There's no way you're 5'9" either. Dad calls you a hedgehog." Liam and I both laughed and Lou cleared his throat.

"How about I tell your dad you've been watching True Blood? What would he think about that?"

"I already told him. We face timed like two days ago and were talking about it. He said I shouldn't be watching it because I'm too young, but we've already gone over sex-ed stuff at school. I know how all that works."

"When did she get so grown up?" Liam chuckled, taking a large bite of my grilled cheese.

"Hey!" I squealed, punching his bicep as hard as I could.
