Song(s): Water Under The Bridge- Adele

7 years later-

"Dad, where are my shoes?" I yelled, pushing the pile of clothes from one corner of the room to the other with no luck.

"They're in the car, love. Calm down." I jogged down the small hallway and tried to keep my stomach calm.

"What? I gotta get my shoes and we have to go," I sighed.

"Pax. Take a deep breath and relax or I'll envoke the dad card." Today of all days he would pull that.

"Okay. I'm sorry. I'm just nervous."

"You'll do fine. C'mon." Walking to the parking garage, we quickly got in the car and ventured into the heavy city traffic.

"Are you sure Liam and Louis and Niall are gonna be able watch the games? I'm not sure if there's gonna be room because of all the college coaches and even on the bench we have a big team and-"

"I envoke the dad card," he interupted, taking a sharp left turn. I almost groaned in frustration.

"I'm going to be fine and play to the best of my ability," I mumbled begrudgingly.

"And?"

"And no matter how bad I think I do, someone watching will see past a missed shot to what I really have to offer."

"And?"

"And there is much more to me than being a basketball player, but I love the game and it only adds to how great of a person I am."

"And?"

"And even though I'm scared, it's all going to work out." Those were more believable words than the others he'd only made me say twice before now.

"No matter what honey, you know Niall, Liam, Louis and I love you with all of our hearts." We finally came to a stop in a parking space and I found myself stuck in the seat.

"Are you gonna get out?"

"Yeah." I still hadn't moved. He opened his door, carefully stepping out and closing it behind him before walking to my side and opening my door. He reached his hand toward me and I anxiously took it. Pulling me up, I stood on the sidewalk in front of him. People were already staring.

"Pax Olivia Styles, you are going to do an amazing job this week. I've seen the fire in you since you could walk. Now it's your time to set the world ablaze," Dad beamed, hugging me tightly. I could hear Niall laughing and he walked around the corner, Liam and Louis behind him.

"I figured we'd have t'do the huddle today," Niall teased. The four of them enclosed me in their arms and I didn't have the energy to fight them off as usual.

"I actually feel better," I chuckled as we walked inside the convention center. With the four of them, it felt like no one could ever hurt me. That was, until I saw Sam standing and giggling with Robert. I fought the urge to roll my eyes. Why the hell was he with her? She wasn't even 5'11" on a good day and he was well over 6'6".

"I'm gonna go check us in. Is everybody here?" Dad asked.

"Yes." Unfortunately.  Watching him walk off, I sat against the wall. Pretending to be on my phone instead of looking at Sam all over the boy I had a huge crush on since sixth grade wasn't working too well.

"You look a bit green," Louis teased, sitting down next to me. I shot him a look and he chuckled quietly. "Sam pissing you off again?"

"She knew I liked him and she just swooped in and stole him," I glared.
