When we get home, I let Max off his lead and go inside with Alexis and Isobel. Isobel and I go to my room and start talking
“So”, I ask, “what did you do in Queensland?”
“Not a lot. But, I did get you an awesome present, which hasn’t arrived yet”
She has a mischievous glimmer in her eyes, causing me to be a little suspicious, but, I trust her, so whatever.
“So what have you done these holidays?” Isobel asks.
I shrug and say, “Not much, I was waiting for you to get back, which you already were. Why didn’t you tell me you were back?”
“Because I was going to come over and surprise you but then we sort of met up so yeah…” Isobel says in a casual tone.
I chuckle at her laid-back attitude and say, “Well good to know that you weren’t hiding from me. Are you doing anything tonight?”
Isobel shakes her head and says, “Nope. Dad wants me to clean my room and I don’t want too. Why? What have you got planned?”
I throw my head backwards, onto my pillow and say, “Well I think that we should get some dinner then you should sleepover. That’s if you want to though…”
Isobel smiles and says, “Oh my gosh yes! Last night I went out for dinner with my parents. It was at a place called…umm…what was it…uhh…oh yeah Restaurant du Grand. It was amazing and yummy and we should go.”
“Is it fancy or what?” I ask, “Like do I need to dress up or anything?”
“No I don’t think so. I guess you should wear something nice but not really fancy.” Isobel says.
I nod and say, “Cool. Mum and Dad are going to be home in a minute so they can take Alexis off my hands. Do you want to borrow something to wear?”
“Yes please”
“Alright, then, let’s get ready!”
I get out a striped floral dress for me to wear as well as some creamy-brown leather Oxfords and black Rose earrings. I decide to take a pale rose coloured clutch that cost a minor fortune, and an infinity bracelet. For my hair, I put it up in a bun and add some floral hairpins. My makeup consists of pale lip-gloss and some shadowy eye shadow, which completes my look. For Isobel I get her out a cute black dress with colourful flowers on it, some red flats and a matching red clutch. I give her some gold bangles and a ring with a yellow heart on it. She wears the earrings she already had on which are amethyst studs. I curl her hair and do her make up, which consists of bright red lipstick and some more naturalish looking eye make up. We head outside and climb into Isobel’s car that her dad very kindly dropped off. She’s 17, so is legally allowed to drive, I don’t know who signed the paper work, but they must have been mentally unstable to give her her P’s. It takes us about 30 minutes to get there, one because it’s on the other side of Canberra and two because there was quite a bit of traffic. When we pull up, I jump out and run inside to get our table, with Isobel following slowly behind… like a sloth. Seriously. Can she go any slower?
“Hi, reservation for Allum?”
“Right this way”
“Thank you”
“Bella, c’mon. You’re so slow! Seriously”
“Sorry, I was texting… someone”
"Oooh, who? What's his name? How do you know him? Where did you meet? Do I know him?"
"Shh, slow down with all the questions! You don’t know them”
“You sure about that?”
“Positive” she says, “I’ll tell you when I can, but I can’t at the moment. It has something to do with your birthday surprise”
“Ok, fair enough. Now lets go eat!”
“Good, I’m starving!”
