It was like I was waking up from the most lucid dream that I had ever had. I felt okay physically, but everything up until now had been a total mind fuck. I woke in my room the sun shining brightly through my window.
But as I swung my legs out of bed I saw Mom standing in the doorway with the biggest smile on her face. "Good morning sleeping beauty." When I looked at her I saw that she was glowing, not in a pregnant kind of way but a different kind.
"Mom? You look..." I stuttered out as she laughed.
"Great right?!" She exclaimed. "I feel great too, better than I have in months! Haha I can't explain it but I feel as healthy as a horse!" She then pulled out the note that I had left on the door last night. "I didn't see whoever "Grace" is. So hurry up and show me!" Her eyes just barely twinkled in the morning light as she hollered with excitement, practically dragging me downstairs.
Sakura was on our heels as I took a moment to make my presentation. "Ladies, allow me the privilege of introducing you to one of the gnarliest Fatboys to ever exist. The lovely, the beautiful, and the bodacious Grace!!" As soon as I opened the door their jaws hit the floor, Mom's especially.

She slowly made her way past me as she covered her mouth in shock. "You...you finished her." Mom said, gently allowing her fingertips to glide across the chrome and the gas tank.
I glanced down as I put my hands in my pockets. "I was afraid of losing you before you got to hear what she sounded like. But because of how sick you..." I looked over to her as I paused briefly. "If I was going to regret anything at all it would be that."
At that moment Mom, Sakura, and I all joined together for a family hug. "Well then start her up sweetheart." Mom smiled as she slipped the keys into my hand and gestured her head towards Grace.
I glanced over at Sakura who was in agreement. "Go on." She said silently.
Once I saddled up I put the key in the ignition and started her up. The way Grace's engine growled was like that of a wild animal. I revved her up all the way and made her roar. The level of joy that Mom and Sakura had in their expressions would always be a treasured memory.
Everything after that day continued on as normal. Mom's hair had started to grow back and she made a crack about being as old as Ripley from Alien 3. Sakura joined the debate team as well as the student council, she became Vice President and rubbed in in my face extensively.
As for me, I was just thankful about the fact that I had my mom back and that Sakura was working towards her dreams like I was. But I also put in more work than ever seeing as how once I left this earth I would be damned to hell for all eternity. Even so if I had to suffer the fires of damnation in exchange for anyone I loved, I would always choose them before I chose myself no contest.
Weeks turned into months, months turned into a couple of years and all was well. I ended up getting my learners permit about 2 weeks after I turned 15. And as long as I'm not on any road of the interstate then I'm allowed to ride freely.
