Meeting their end
The night was dark and silent, except for the occasional sound of a car passing by.
A young couple, Jake and Lisa, were driving along a deserted road, looking for a place to spend the night. They had been on the run for days, ever since they had kidnapped a child from a wealthy family. They had demanded a ransom of ten million dollars, but the police were closing in on them. They needed to find a safe hideout until they could collect the money and escape.
They spotted a sign that read "Motel 6" and decided to check it out.
They turned into a dirt road that led to a rundown building with a flickering neon sign. They parked their car in front of the reception and got out, carrying the child with them. The child was a boy, about six years old, with pale skin and dark hair. He was wearing a hooded jacket and a mask that covered his mouth and nose. Jake and Lisa had taken these precautions to prevent anyone from recognizing him or hearing his voice.
They entered the reception and rang the bell. A bored-looking man appeared behind the counter and greeted them.
"Welcome to Motel 6. How can I help you?"
"We need a room for the night," Jake said.
"Sure, we have plenty of rooms available. How many people?"
"Two adults and one child," Lisa said.
"Okay, that'll be fifty dollars."
Jake handed him the money and received a key in return.
"Room 12, second floor, on your left," the man said.
"Thank you," Jake said.
They took their bags and headed to the stairs. The man watched them go, then shrugged and returned to his magazine.
Jake and Lisa reached their room and opened the door. It was a small and dirty room, with a double bed, a TV, a dresser, and a bathroom. They threw their bags on the floor and locked the door behind them.
They took off the child's jacket and mask and threw them on the bed. The child looked at them with fear in his eyes. He had not spoken a word since they had taken him from his home. He knew better than to scream or cry. He had seen what they did to people who tried to stop them or help him.
They had killed his parents.
They had killed his nanny.
They had killed two policemen who had tried to rescue him.
They were monsters.
And they did not know that he was one too.
He was a vampire.
He had been born with this condition, inherited from his mother. She had taught him how to live among humans, how to hide his true nature, how to feed on humans secretly.
He looked at Jake and Lisa, who were busy unpacking their bags. They did not notice him staring at them. They did not care about him at all. They only wanted money.
He's a child who had lost everything he loved and had nothing left to live for.
Except for revenge.
The next morning, Jake woke up with a start. He looked at the clock on the nightstand and saw that it was almost noon. He cursed and got out of bed. He nudged Lisa, who was still sleeping next to him.
"Hey, wake up. We have to go."
Lisa groaned and opened her eyes.
"What time is it?"
"Almost noon. Come on, get up."
Lisa yawned and stretched her arms. She got out of bed and went to the bathroom. Jake followed her and turned on the shower. He stripped off his clothes and stepped into the stall. Lisa joined him shortly after.
They washed themselves quickly, then dried themselves with towels. They put on their clothes and packed their bags. They checked their phones for any messages from the kidnappers or the police. There were none.
They were safe for now.
They grabbed their bags and headed to the door. Jake opened it and stepped out into the hallway. He looked around and saw no one else. The motel was quiet and empty.
"Come on," he said to Lisa, who was holding the child by his hand.
They walked down the stairs and reached the reception. The man who had checked them in was still there, reading his magazine. He looked up when he saw them and smiled.
"Good morning. Did you enjoy your stay?"
Jake ignored him and threw the key on the counter.
"Keep the change," he said.
"Thank you. Have a nice day," the man said.
Jake and Lisa walked out of the reception and headed to their car. They opened the back door and pushed the child inside. They closed the door and got into the front seats. Jake started the engine and drove away from the motel.
They did not notice the blood dripping from the child's mouth.
They did not notice the bite marks on his neck.
They did not notice the figure that was following them from a distance.
They did not notice anything until it was too late.
It was dark when they reached their end. It was a dead end road, where they had run out of gas. They had driven for hours, trying to find a way out of the woods, but they had only gotten more lost. They had tried to call for help, but they had no signal. They had tried to find another car, but they had seen no one else.
They were alone in the dark, with no hope of escape.
They parked their car at the side of the road and walked towards a clearing in the trees, looking for a place to spend the night. They found a spot near a stream and decided to settle there. They put down their bags and sat on the ground, exhausted and hungry.
They looked at each other, wondering what to do next.
"We're screwed," Jake said.
"Yeah," Lisa said.
They looked at the child, who was staring at them with hate in his eyes.
But they ignored the child and slept as they were tired and hungry.
The child waited until they fell asleep, then he made his move. He crept out of his sleeping bag and crawled towards Jake, who was snoring loudly. He reached for his neck and bit down hard, tearing out a chunk of flesh.
Jake woke up with a scream, but it was too late. The child had already moved on to Lisa, who was lying next to him. He bit her throat and ripped it open, spilling blood all over the ground. Lisa gasped and choked, but she could not fight back.
The child had killed them both in a matter of seconds.
He stood up and wiped his mouth with his sleeve. He felt a surge of satisfaction and relief. He had done it. He had avenged his parents.
