Chapter 1
I sprint down the road, then turn left into an alleyway trying to avoid the raining gunfire coming from behind me. As I stop to catch my breath, three big men with guns follow me to the alley. Before I can start to run again, I feel a searing sensation in my thigh. Looking down I see blood starting to flow through my jeans. I let out a scream until I opened my eyes. As my eyes flutter open I see Vinnie sitting next to me on our bed.
"Soph, hey, you're okay. It was just a dream. I'm here now," he whispers in a raspy voice.
"Vin, I'm so sorry I woke you up. What time is it?" I ask.
"It's 2:30 am," he replies.
"Dang it , I'm so sorry." I feel terrible about waking him up again. My nightmares have been getting more frequent lately.
"Let's go back to sleep" He suggests. He crawls over me to get back to his side of the bed. Once he gets back under the covers he pulls me closer to him till we both fall asleep.
