Alexandera woke with a jump. She was back into her cherry pink and baby blue bed covers and saw all of her things in their places. The confused girl quickly scrambled out of bed and onto the soft rug that she had placed on the wooden floor only last month. She wove her way around the numerous contraptions laid across the space. Liumos, diatrous, felious, she remembered what she had once called them so many years ago. Silly, made up names that now had no purpose. Then a thought struck her as she placed a hand on the door to the hallway. What if this was another game that her mind wanted to play? Is there another dark tunnel? Is she safe? Quickly she opened the door, prepared for yet another bottomless pit to await her. Surprisingly, she met with a hallway that led to the stairs.
"Alexandera, dear, is that you? Please, come sit with me for breakfeast," called her mother from the kitchen.
"Coming!" Alexandera called as she quickly rushed down the stairs. Loving the feel of carpet rubbing against the bottoms of her feet.
"Morning, my darling," said the woman, acknowledging her daughters appearance. "Bread and jam for breakfast sound good?" She asked. Alexandera nodded, but she knew she wouldn't eat half of it.
She looked up at her mother and her smile that had once been plastered on her face became a shocked scream, but this scream had no voice. Behind her mother stood a tall, skinny looking man. He was writing something on the wall in a runny dark red liquid. "Your mi-" she read before he turned around and let out a deadly screech.
"Mom! Mom run, but don't turn around!" Alexandera yelled as the screech burned through her eardrums. Her mother turned towards the monster and her face covered in shock.
