(Bojan Cvjetićanin x Kris Guštin)

Bojan and Kris had been together for three years but they had known each other for more than a decade.

It had been two and a half years since their first Chistmas together, and if they weren't sure during all those years that they were soulmates, the past couple of years had proved that they were.

The couple were in perfect harmony, their personalities always balancing each other out and each day they fell more in love than ever before.

Both had talked about marriage at previous times in their relationship, mutually deciding that they wanted to do it one day but neither having worked up the courage to yet.

But today Kris has decided, he would finally be the one to take the next step. He was going to propose to Bojan.

There was originally a plan. A plan that Kris had made years ago as a fifteen year old, resolutely pining over one of his best friends.

And there had been many plans since, some that were just revisions of the original plan, some that were entirely new schemes.

The original plan, the best plan, was simple but effective.

A fancy dinner, a walk through Tivoli park, a nice bottle of wine (even as a teenager who didn't drink he was still a wine mum), and simply getting down on one knee next to the tulips.

This was the plan that Kris had always came back to through the years, be it because of nostalgia or just because it was the probably the best one he had come up with, and it was the plan he intended to put into action to finally propose Bojan.

Bojan the true light of his life who he loved more than anything, who he had loved for as long as he could remember knowing the meaning of the word, and who he would love until the day he could no longer voice it.

Anyway back to the plan. Said plan that was so far not going the way as it should have.

The dinner had been nice, the walk had been lovely, the bottle of wine was everything you would want in a bottle of wine, and the tulips were right there.

But Kris just couldn't seem to put the last phase of his plan into action. It wasn't like he didn't want to (my god did he want to), and it wasn't because he was scared (he definitely was scared but this was the event he'd been building up to the past few years of his life, it's not like he would chicken out because of fear).

It was because at the exact moment he was going to get down on one knee, he turned to see that Bojan had beaten him to it.

Getting over the initial annoyance at being beaten at the game of proposing, the shock finally started up as Kris realised what was really happening.

Bojan was down on one knee in front of him, with a ring box in his hand, proposing. To him. Bojan was proposing to him. BOJAN WAS PROPOSING TO HIM.

This was really happening. What Kris had hoped and dreamed about for all these years was actually becoming a reality.

Before he could think anything more about it, Bojan spoke up from where he had been kneeling.

"Kris you know that I love you more than words can express and I have basically since I can remember. I would try to put the amount that I love you into words but I just can't. Funny that for once in my life I can't find the words to express what I really feel but although I can't I know that it's okay, you know exactly the way I feel about you."

"It's funny, I had this whole speech planned out but I honestly can't remember a word of it. All I want to say is, Kris Guštin, I have loved you for many years and I will for as long as I can. You are the one person I want to spend the rest of my life with and I hope to dear god that you say yes when I ask you, will you marry me?"

He didn't have to hope. Kris was certain that Bojan knew there would be no question as to what his answer would be.

But he nodded anyway, letting out a whispered "Yes," through the tears that had started falling, and held his hand out for the ring that Bojan was holding ready to put on his finger.

Once the ring was put on, Bojan jumped up and wrapped his arms around Kris, also with joyous tears running down his face.

Their lips met in their first kiss as fiancés, and Kris was over the moon that it had finally happened.

"They were engaged!" kept repeating over and over in his head, and his heart felt like it was ready to beat out of his chest.

It was true that the proposal hadn't gone to plan, but Kris wouldn't have had it any other way.

He was engaged and as he walked home in his fiancé's arms Kris couldn't wait for the future ahead of them.
