Mateo and I had always been best friends, not just because we were twin siblings, because we had a special bond that felt like two birds in the nest. We were together, never separated from each other, we were once the children who loved to spend countless hours in the park exploring the outdoors. Every time we spent together, it was treasure. We were the same, our birthday, our hair colour, ethnicity and education. Even though we had different interests to each other, we were still very best friends.
The day that tragically shook me was when Mateo told us that he'd be away at the Gymnastics tournament in Brisbane. He waved goodbye and said that he'd be home early.. but that was far from the truth.
