"Miss Rose?"

A young girl stood up. Her brown hair a mess, and wearing blue jeans and a Van Gogh Starry Night shirt. "Yes?" Rose relied to the lady.

"Dr. Foreman is ready to see you!" The receptionist said. Rose took her bag and followed the receptist to the Dean of the Hospital's office.

Rose entered the office of Dr. Foreman. He looked up once the office door closed.

"Hello, you must be Miss Melissa Rose." Foreman said, rasing to shake her hand.

"Yes! It's a pleasure to meet you sir!" Rose said sweetly. After introductions, Rose and Foreman got to business.

"Rose, you have been recommended by Dr. Lisa Cuddy to work here. However you have no qualifications to work here. You lived in London for four years, and attended art school there. However you have been recommended for a position as a..."

"As a personal assistant." Rose replied with a smile.

Foreman nodded. "Yes, thank you for reminding me."

Foreman looks at Rose's application. "You have had some medical classes.. Interesting. House will maybe like you."

Rose tilts her head. "Who's House?"

Foreman smiles, but Rose can see that he's nervous to tell the truth.

"Doctor Gregory House is the head of the Diagnostics department. He's.. Quite the character." Foreman explains.

"How so, sir?"

Foreman sighs. "He's a great doctor. But he's cold, uncaring, and quite difficult to work with. He has a Vicodin addiction. A bit of a drinking problem. He has mood swings. Sometimes I think he's not even right in the head because of his crazy ideas!"

Rose nods, listening along. Foreman then starts to laugh.

"You know, Miss Rose. House used to be in a relationship with Dr. Cuddy. But she broke up with him and next thing we know.. He drives his car into her house."

Rose's eyes widen. Foreman then chuckles.

"So you still want to take this position?" Foreman sounds worried.

Rose stays quiet. Foreman sighs.

"Miss Rose if you don't want to take this position, I can get you a job in the medical clinic downstairs-"

Rose cuts him off by her answer.

"I'll take the personal assistant job."

Foreman's mouth drops in suprise. Rose sees hes confused and chuckles.
"Want me to explain?"

Foreman nods.

"Despite what you have told me about this Dr. House and the rumours everyone has said.. I'm willing to take a chance. Dr. Cuddy has said that's he's in need of help and a friend and I'm willing to try." Rose said with a smile.

Foreman smiles back. "That's very nice of you Rose but, House won't warm up to you so easy without a fight. He'll tear you, get inside your head. He'll change you."

Rose smiles. "Im still willing to take a chance on him."

Foreman sighs. "Fine.. But if he hurts you or does something stuipd, report back to me ASAP. Understood?"

Rose nods and is dismissed. She sits outside Foreman's office, drawing in her sketchbook. She watches as people pass and wonders about this mysterious, Gregory House.

She's heard the rumours. Hear the stories from Dr. Lisa Cuddy. But what to truly believe?

That this doctor is such a cold, heartless, crazy man? Or that he's kind but distant? Or that he will only mess with your mind and gets into your heart and break it... Only to be tossed away.

Rose doesn't notice her right leg is shaking from her anxiety and so she can't draw straight. She looks around, still no sign of House. She sighs and thinks about what Cuddy told her about House.

"He's a good doctor, Rose. He doesn't look like he cares but deep down he does. He has so much love to give but.. He's scared to show it. He keeps everyone he cares about at arms length. Never to let a person in and sees his true heart.

The only person who did.. In a way betrayed him. She broke his heart. His first love. No one since then has gotten so close to him. Not me, or Dr. James Wilson. But maybe you can.. Maybe you can make him see beauty and life again, Rose. You can be the angel to save him."

Rose sighs. Could she really save this Dr. House? His best friend, James Wilson tried but.. Now he's passed on, someone needs to be there for him.

So lost in her thoughts, she doesn't hear someone go into Foreman's office, then slam the door shut as they leave. Only when she hears the person sigh does she look to her side. Beside her chair, a man stands with a cane and looks down. He looks like he's seen better days.

"Rough day?" Rose asks kindly.

The man sighs and grumbles. "You haven't got the faintest idea, kid."

Rose studies him. His brown hair with a touch of grey, disheveled. A light dark stumble on his features. Baby blue eyes. Deep cheekbones and a premament frown on his face. His brows furrowed in stress.

"Well.. You can tell me. I'll listen." Rose offers.

The man chuckles and looks at Rose with a serious face. "Im sorry but, are you a therapist?"

Rose is taken aback by his remark. "Um.. No sir but I find it helps..."

House scoffs. "Save your breath. I don't need help."

Deep inside Rose prays this isn't her new boss.

The woman looks at the stranger with kind eyes.

"My name is Melissa Rose. But you can call me Rose."

House stares at her with a bit of suprise and coldness. "Why are you telling me this? I don't care."

He watches as Rose looks down. House feels a bit bad for being mean to her. So he tries to talk but nothing comes out of his mouth.

After a few mintues he looks at her with a smile. "So... Your my new personal assistant, huh, kid?"

Hearing those words Rose cusses silently in her head. She then looks to him and nods. "You must be Doctor Gregory House."

House smiles and nods. He notices something he's never seen in any other woman. Something indescribable deep in her eyes.

House's heart skips a beat as he stares at her.
