Main Character: Cadence Naomi Brown

Cadence is the middle child, having a younger brother named Cruise and an older sister named Countess. Their father died when they were young, and their mother abandoned them, resulting in them being raised by their grandmother.

She meets Dayvon while she is in her senior year of High School due to him lurking around her neighborhood a lot. He refused to leave her alone, leading them to where they are, years later.

The story begins with her being at her house packaging orders for her small, yet growing business. Dayvon comes by to help and while she watches him work tentatively at placing labels on package, she starts to reminisce on how he's always supported her. From when he would stay up late to try and help her with homework to going to her high school graduation and being the loudest one there.

She thanks him for everything, leading to a conversation of them reminiscing together, before they head to bed.

"What was that crazy tweet you made that time." Cadence says with a smile,
"Y'all better chill on me, my bitch can fight." Von says recalling the incident vividly,
"Had never even seen me fight and we wasn't even together." Cadence responds with a laugh, earning a chuckle from Von "Shit I knew you was gone be mine eventually, and I could just tell you knew how to fight."

The next day they head over to visit her grandma, which was a frequent activity. Ms. Veronica has always embraced and loved Dayvon, so visits to see her are always pleasant. They spend some time in the pool at her home, before leaving to go visit some of his people, and heading back home.

Family means a lot to both Cadence and Dayvon, and it's always been something they bonded over.

They have a lot of chill days together. On one particular day both she and Von have dreams of one another getting injured. Cadence shakes it off, but it puts Von on edge. For the whole day, he doesn't let her go anywhere alone, and glares at anybody that even glances in their direction.

"Alright Dayvon, let's go home before you be done shot somebody." Cadence says leading the way back to the car.

Things take a turn when her grandmother unexpectedly dies. She gets woken up by her brother Cruise calling her in the middle of the night. After he tells her the news, she immediately starts to sob, causing Von to wake up.

"The fuck wrong with you ma?" Von groggily says while sitting up, both startled and concerned. "C-Cruise called...he s-said he found grandma d-dead." Cadence chokes out.
"Damn, commere lil folks" Von states while pulling her into a comforting hug, allowing her to cry into his chest.

In the morning, they head over to her grandma's house. Family, friends, and others from the neighborhood make quick trips to offer Cadence and her siblings their condolences. Von steps outside to take a call, and notices some of his opps in the area (Rome's people**). He waits until they get back home to tell Cadence.

"But don't stress bout that ma. You got enough on your mind." Von says trying to keep Cadence calm.

For safety precautions, Von stays at the house for the next few trips Cadence makes to her grandma house. She's worried about him nonetheless, but feels more at ease knowing he's not in harms way with her.

When discussing things with her siblings, Countess reveals she wants to have her grandmothers house, which Cadence frowns upon. The sisters' relationship has always been on the shakier side of things.

"I swear you're so bitter Cadence. You never want me to have nothing." Countess states while rolling her eyes at her sister.
"No Countess I just don't want you turning my grandma house into your hoe house." Cadence snaps, "EXCUSE ME?!" Countess responds, now raising her voice.
"Alright y'all, that's enough." Cruise interjects before their argument can escalate further.
