"Hey, am I really that hot that I caused you to freak? I mean, that's not the first time that's happened." That is what I was greeted with. And that sentence almost caused me to cry again but I told myself I couldn't. I wouldn't.
A boy with what I would classify as tomato red hair walked up to me. He stuck his hand out for me to shake and said, "I'm Michael Clifford. But you can call me your boyfriend if you like."
I slapped him. His cheek was a red as his hair. I looked at Mr. J who looked shocked.
"Say something like that to me again and I will add a knee to where the sun don't shine." I say through gritted teeth. Behind him, three other boys stare with wide eyes as their friend looks about ready to drop to the floor and cry.
"Laina! You apologize right now!" Mr. J says sharply.
"Actually, I'm the one who should be apologizing, Mr. Janzen. I stepped out of line." Michael said. Only I could tell he wasn't completely sincere. "I'm sorry for saying that. It was a bad move." He apologized. All I did was let out a huff of air.
"Wow, you must have hit him hard! Mikey here never apologizes!" One of the boys behind him says. He stands up and walks towards me, offering his hand like Michael did. "I'm Ashton Irwin." It was only then did I noticed the strong accent in both boys' voices. "This is Luke Hemmings and Calum Hood." He points to a blonde boy and to the dark haired boy. The blonde boy blushes while the dark haired boy just smirks at him.
"I'm Laina and I really don't want to be here so let's get this over with." I snap. I start walking towards the door, and when I reach it, exit the room. I don't wait for the idiotic boys to follow, I just assume they will get the memo and come. Sure enough, moments after I hear the door shut behind me, I hear it open and the four boys stumble after me.
"Do you have schedules?" I ask without turning around.
"Yes, but you would have to slow down in order for us to get them out to look at them." An unfamiliar voice said. It must have been either Luke or Calum. I finally stop and turn around, nearly bumping into the blonde boy who was directly behind me. I looked at him. His eyes were just like Derain's. Blue and deep. I tore my gaze away from him as I felt dizzy with the memory of him. Deep breath Laina. Deep breath.
Realizing Luke was still looking at me, I cleared my throat.
"Let me see your schedule then. That way I can get away from you clowns faster." I say dully. Luke quickly snaps out of his semi-trance and reaches into his hoodie pocket. He pulls out a white folded piece of paper.
"Here you are. I have the schedule memorized I just don't know the places." He says. "The other three have the same schedule even though we are different ages."
"I didn't ask for your life's story, I just asked for your schedule." I snap while quickly snatching the paper from the boy's hands. His eyes go wide with my response but he quickly recomposes himself. "Looks like you have geometry first period. Follow me. You won't have class right now but I will show you the room." I say as I take off again, not waiting to see if they follow.
