First day

Y/n pov

We were finally going back to school after missing out on junior year. I sat down in my homeroom my best friend, Lacy sat down next to me with a smile on her face.

"Y/n guess what," Her voice was giggly and she was tapping on the desk impatiently.

"Hmm," I hummed checking my phone for a text back from the guy I was talking to.

"Over the summer I got with Matt," She smiled as she tried to keep quiet.

As she said this I looked up at her, "You did?"

"Yes and..." The bell rang cutting her off. Matt Sturniolo rushed into the classroom sitting down next to Lacy his brothers following suit. Nick sitting next to me and Chris sitting next to Matt. Lacy and Matt instantly tangled their hands together causing our iconic teacher to call them out for it. I looked over to Nick as we both stifled a laugh. 

The teacher talked to us as we were in a class with a bunch of sophomores and juniors. Matt and Chris were taking this class as they didn't take it earlier in their schooling. Lacy was taking it as she had it cut out from the break we had to take. Nick and I were taking it because we loved our teacher Mrs. Crystal. She always joked with the class and everybody loved her except Lacy. 

Nick and I were lucky as we had Mrs. Crystal as our homeroom and 1st-hour teacher. We got to spend our first hour and a half of our day with her. Mrs. Crystal was explaining the curriculum which Nick and I knew by heart because we'd taken some form of this class every year since freshman year.  Mrs. Crystal pulled all the students that have never taken any of her classes to one side of the room separating the lovebird Lacy and Matt. Lacy, Nick, me, and a couple of other people were on one side of the room while the rest were with Mrs.Crystal. Nick, Lacy, and I sat and talked until we were all released to our next class. For my second and third hour, I had nobody I really knew in it. 

For my 4th hour, the one right before lunch I had class with Madi Filipowicz. We sat down next to each other and she instantly asked if I still liked Chris. I responded with no as I didn't like him anymore.

"So, Do you like anyone currently?" Madi asked flipping her pencil in her hands.

"Not yet but did you hear who Lacy got with?" 

"Yeah. I don't really see what he sees in her as she isn't what I thought his type was but if he's happy,"

"Yeah, I know. She has liked Chris since elementary then she suddenly switched."

"You used to like Chris," She said blankly.

"I know but It's not like I liked him for 7 years then suddenly jumped to his brother. That's worse than homie hopping," 

"Okay..." Madi said shutting down the subject. I got the hint and we talked about school stuff to see if we had any more classes with each other. We had 6th hour together with Nick. I knew the teacher and he didn't care what anybody did. I assumed Nick, Madi and I would just talk about our summer the whole class. 

4th hour ended and Madi and I filed out of the class to find our friends. We saw Lacy sitting with Matt constantly playing with his hair. He had his eyes on him the whole time. Madi and I sat down next to Nick. Chris wasn't sitting with them which confused me. Nick, Madi, and I ignored Lacy and Matt who were in their own little world.  We talked about how we had 6th hour together and how the teacher didn't care what the students did. We spent the whole lunch hour talking and once the bell rang Nick and I walked to our next class. 

We pushed open the door and Chris was sitting with my sister, Jessica l/n(Last name). He had his arm around her and a cocky smirk. I looked to Nick and the two of us sat down in the back of the class. The teacher walked to the front and started ordering people around. He made Chris and Jessica split up. Nick and I stayed quiet and fortunately weren't split up. 

"This will be your seating for the rest of the time I have you." He sat back down at his desk putting on a video for us to start watching. Nick and I stayed quiet out of fear of getting moved. The video was an old man talking in a monotone voice about the Civil War. I ended up laying my head on Nick's shoulder out of boredom. When there were about 20 minutes left in class we pulled out a piece of paper and started to write on it to talk. The bell rang and Nick and I were out of the class in seconds. We found Madi and all of us walked to our last class.

We sat down and we waved to the teacher. We all started to talk until she stepped to the front and silenced us. She gave us a small talk about expectations and that stuff then she let us do whatever we wanted as it was our first day. The class went by super fast and Madi, Nick, and I went to find Chris, Lacy, and Matt. We couldn't find any of them so I gave Madi and Nick a ride home instead of taking Lacy home. While we were leaving I found Jessica and dragged her with us to go home. I didn't bring up the fact that she was probably flirting with my ex-crush who I was basically dating even though he didn't know (I'm making Y/n delusional. deal with it). 

I dropped Nick and Madi off and started to drive home and got a sudden confidence boost.

"So, Jessica why did Chris have his arm around you?"

"Um," Jessica paused, "No reason," She said quickly.

"You two together?"

"No, but we've been flirting," 

"Oh, cool," I said quietly and the rest of the ride home was silent. We got home and I went up to my room to do homework. I went to put a timer on my phone when I saw Matt had added me on snap. I added him back and snapped him with "WYD". I put my phone down and started to work on homework without checking my phone.
