I awoke with a shock, blood dripping from the roof of my bedroom onto my face. My feet tighten and I freeze in alarm. What's happening? Fifteen minutes later I gained control of my legs again and swung them to the side of my bed only to find a horrific sight of ten dead mutilated bodies. One lay slouched against the wall sitting on my weight bench staring at the ceiling, another was sitting down looking at its reflection in the mirror. The rest were piled into a corner of the room. When I turn away from the scene to look out the window, everything is cold and iced. The road is iced over and snow gently trickles down from the sky, I have no idea whether it's real or not. A fight between two demons catches my attention at the corner of my eye. Being one of the five main demon generals in Belial's demon army, the sight was enjoyable as I watched the two tear each other to shreds. One had a snake-like body with millions of little legs and the other had the body of a werewolf and the head of a buffalo.
Yes I know being a member of the Aesir religion and serving under a christian demon king is very controversial. However misguided the christian religion is they did get many demon kings names correct, which in my opinion is very suspicious. Anyway, once the fighting was over and the werewolf had won, cutting the serpent in two with its razor sharp claws I walked through the horrifying mess that was my bedroom and into the corridor where many of my demon familiars lay. An icy sheet covers the floor and icicles protrude from the ceiling. Five voices in my head scream at each other as I walk down the icy steps of my house.
"Good morning Will." say's my mum as she hears me walking down the stairs.
The illusions break. I look around, no ice, no familiars, no bodies, Just nothing.
"You to mum." I say with a shiver in my voice.
I had at this time been trying to figure out what I had just seen, however it was rather hard to do so as there were so many things going on at once. My eyes begin to move rapidly, never staying focused on one thing for too long, my head begins to shake, I sit down on the stairs and hold my head as if I were trying to keep it still. It refuses to work, my head still shakes, my legs stiffen up and soon enough I can't move. Anxiety flows through me in a terrifying tidal wave crashing throughout my body. Mum doesn't know what's happening, she's in the kitchen so I continue with the attack with nothing but my little Cadavare for company. (He's my hellchild.)
Once that is over and done with, maybe five or ten minutes later I finish walking down the stairs and join up with my mum in the kitchen.
"Did you sleep well?" she asks
Still a little bewildered by everything that had just happened, I replied with a shaky voice.
"Yeah I slept well."
"What do you want for breakfast?" she asks
"Don't worry about that mum, I will sort myself out, thanks." I reply calmly
I wiped myself up with some porridge oats from one of the cupboards, took some milk from the fridge and a bowl from another cupboard, then I poured the oats in the bowl and then added the milk on top till it coats all the oats. Putting the mixture in the microwave for three minutes I watch as sweet little Cadavare runs under and through the table wildly running around the kitchen never stopping not even seeming to get out of breath. He's running at maximum speed now, not going in any particular direction. His green leathery skin is a blur. Then suddenly
"bleep, bleep, bleep, bleep, bleep.''
The microwave goes off. I open it and sigh as I realise the porridge has bubbled over the side of the bowl and gone all over the place. Just more bad luck for me I guess. It's nothing to what the stakes usually are in other realms but it doesn't mean it's not annoying.
I walk back to my room to eat alone, well not entirely alone I realise as little Cadavare runs past me and to the door of my room. He's banging on the door by the time I got there. After a while he whimpers and retreats when he realises he can't open the door and allows me to open it for him. Once I do he rushes in front of me and growls with triumph at his victory over the door. I smile at that because however sweet Cadavare may seem he is a deadly companion especially when he's in the demon universe known only as the other world. A place of Hellish demons and howling beasts and unthinkable horrors.
For the rest of the time eating my breakfast I think about what it's like to be a normal person on earth with a simple life, a job, kids and a beautiful kind loving wife. How dull I conclude, no saving millions of lives from multitudes of demon hordes, no throne world in the other world for myself and my own army of familiars and demons just nothing but a simple life. I can't see how people can put up with it, it must be so boring for humans. Sometimes I think about letting the demons cross, humans could fight them off with their primitive weapons whilst demons could fight with their old magic. It would be a fair fight if nothing else and it would make the lives of humans less dull and boring. However, I always come to the same conclusion, that would make my life boring. I would no longer be the bridge between the two realms; my power within The other world would diminish. I would be as helpless as any other human.
I finished breakfast and went to get out of my room to empty the dishwasher. The icy landscape is back. It's not cold or anything like that, it's just different, exciting. Once I finish doing the dishwasher I go up to my middle room flanked by my bedroom and my sister's room where I keep my Xbox One. I look at my watch, it's nearly eleven in the morning. I get to the top of the steps and are greeted by a unit of devil apes. Black furred ape-like creatures that walk on all fours and wear red oni masks. Their rather fearsome opponents and their pack leader Kromon is most likely one of the strongest minor demons in The other world. They allow me to pass as they always do. I enter my room to see that Kome is slithering across the floor, his back darting upwards curving into all different shapes and sizes. His sharp claws curl and a face appears in the slot where there was once nothing. He smiles
"Welcome back." says Kome.
"Thank you." I say returning the smile.
"What will you play today?" He asks.
"I think I'll play halo again." I say calmly.
"Halo? Again? As you wish." he replies, going back under the table to rest by my feet.
I switch on the Xbox as well as the TV and it takes a short while to load onto the main screen. I click the icon for Halo Master Chief Collection and wait for it to load.
"Why do you take the form of this puny human whilst in this world?" Kome askes
"It's so not threatening." He continues
I concentrate on my seething anger at that comment and the room begins to burst into a cold icy storm. Kome backs back under the table.
"My apologies my lord." said Kome as he shies away from the battering cold of the magically created storm.
"It's ok Kome, you know I get sensitive about this form?" I replied.
"Yes lord, I meant no offence."
The storm calms down and the frost falls back to the corners of the room and some of the snow on the ground begins to melt. I play and play and play until I lose myself in the world. Pretending I am the master chief as I gun down aliens and meet new people.
