Part I.

~ Seventh Grade. ~

Yunho had an average childhood.

His entire youth, he'd experienced the normalcy of a father, mother, and younger brother living together happily under the same roof of a neat yet homely house. Yunho's room may have been the messiest, though, with dirty clothes that didn't promptly make their way to the hamper, or crumpled up sheets of homework messily stacked on his desk and dresser. Empty water bottles and cans of Sprite had taken on their role of decoration, Yunho completely unbothered that they were there. Though, sometimes he'd come home from school to find that his mom had taken the motherly role of cleaning up after him. Despite his selective inability to clean up after himself, he was still a good kid. His homework was always done, good grades were earned in school, and his chores were completely semi-regularly.

Yunho considered himself quite lucky to live in such a nice place, albeit a small town, surrounded by a loving family and loyal friends he'd had since he'd been enrolled into pre-school. He'd even had a girlfriend - once - but that hadn't worked out. Yunho didn't even remember liking her, just that he was flattered that somebody could ever have a crush on him, and he'd agreed to whatever form of pre-pubescent dating had occurred. She had been super nice, he could remember, very pretty even.

But his heart had never fluttered around her.

Having just been a kid, he was too nervous to break up - that was such an adult thing to do, after all. Not that dating somebody was. Not even close. So when he found out that his dad had been reassigned within the company, requiring that the family move clear across South Korea, he'd been a little relieved for the cowardly way out. Although it was bittersweet, having to say goodbye to all of his friends, at least he wouldn't have to face that girl's frown, or even worse, her tears.

He couldn't handle that responsibility.

So after their move, in the middle of seventh grade, Yunho had to start fresh. Find new friends that he could click with, friends that he could study with, and hang out with. To help him shift from being the new kid to just being Yunho.

Enter Park Seonghwa.

Park Seonghwa was a year older than him, beautiful in a way that made his heart flutter, beautiful in a way Yunho ignored because he was fearful of what acknowledging it could mean. Seonghwa was kind, he symbolized everything good in the world - at least in Yunho's world. Although the older was in a grade above him, they still managed to see each other often during school hours, eating lunch together as if it had become a routine. Well, it had been a routine, one Yunho was sure not to break.

Countless times had Yunho gone home for the day, diving onto his bed face first and kicking his feet around in a happy tantrum at something cute the other had either said or done.

Cue, a list of things Seonghwa would do that would drive Yunho to the point of madness:

Tucking his lengthy black locks behind his ear.

Hyperfixate on the way his food was arranged on his plate, especially the way his lashes would fan across high cheekbones as he looked down at said food.
