Gym Bros

Part 1

Author's note: this will eventually include smut, David is more extroverted and Levi is definitely an introvert. Hope y'all enjoy!

David walked into his gym Wednesday evening like he did every week. David, like other people, had made going to the gym a routine. He went every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Even though he frequently went to the gym, he wasn't a bulky guy. He was built to be lean but muscular, not like some of the other guys at the gym who had built up so much muscle it looked like they could deadlift a car. And that was exactly what made David's jaw drop when he walked in on that fateful Wednesday afternoon. A man he'd never seen before was doing reps with 40lbs in the corner of the room. Works of art covered his muscled arms as they flexed. David quickly turned his head when deep brown eyes locked with his. He shook his head and went to warm up. He couldn't help but continue to glance at the man throughout his workout.

He was incredibly handsome. The thought passed through his brain but he swiftly rid himself of that train of thought and got back to doing squats. It wasn't until the very end of his workout did he have an excuse to approach the man. He was using the machine David wanted to use so he figured he'd go over there and wait and possibly strike up a conversation. As he approached he felt anxious for some unknown reason. It was just another guy at the gym there was no reason to be nervous.

"Hey." He said, trying to put as much friendlyness into his voice as possible. The other man simply looked at him before looking away again. Okay, not a talker I guess. David thought.

"I'm David by the way, I've never seen you around so I figured I'd come say hi." He said, confidence faultering.

"Levi." The other man, Levi, muttered.

"Well nice to meet you Levi, and if you ever need anything I come every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday." David said with a polite smile. He decided that instead of waiting for the other man he would just conclude things for the day and go home. He'd already bothered him enough. As David sat at home that evening he couldn't help but wonder about Levi.

The next couple days were filled with classes and assignments. He was a student at the local college in his small town. It was finally Friday and he was going to fit in a quick workout before he went home and crashed. This week had been absolutely exhausting and he was so tired he considered just skipping the gym but he had a routine. And Levi could be there. A traitorous voice whispered. David was confused as to why he was so caught up on the other man. He shook it off and drove over to the gym. And sure enough, as soon as he walked in he saw Levi already working out. David decided he wasn't going to give up on Levi. Maybe he was just a little shy or antisocial, maybe he could use a friend. Plus everyone needed a spotting buddy. He went on with his exercises until he saw Levi looking around as he stood next to a weight bench.

"Do you need someone to spot you?" He called.

Levi looked a little surprised but nodded and David quickly trotted over.

"I can be your spotting buddy from now on if you want." He said. Once again he got a nod. Man he must really not like to talk. Maybe he was a mute? No he had said his name so clearly he could talk. David ignored it as Levi got under the bar. His hands were veiny and strong as he gripped the bar and lifted. David hovered his hands below the bar, ready to lift it back up when needed. The other man did several reps, his breaths heavy. Eventually David helped him lift the bar back up, face a little flushed.

"Thank you." Levi murmured as he got up from the bench.

"No problem man." David said.

The rest of the time went on as usual and as soon as he got home he passed out. David had found himself looking at Levi more. He observed his hands and his muscles, the intricate designs of his tattoos were intriguing. The man didn't know why he was all of a sudden looking at him like this. He was straight and always had been.

David was walking across campus to his Economics class when he saw a familiar face. No way. He thought as he approached Levi. He looked confused with a map of the campus in his hand.

"What a small world! I didn't know you went here too." David says with bewilderment. Levi looks up, an almost expressionless look on his face.

"Need some help finding your class?" He asked.

"Oh, yeah." The other man said.

Levi spoke in a deep barritone that sent shivers down David's spine.

"Where are you headed?" David asks.

"Economics with Roberts." He answers.

"Oh my god me too! That's crazy, we're in the same class." David said with perhaps a little too much excitement judging by the look Levi gave him.

"C'mon I'll show you the way." He starts walking and motions for the other man to follow. He strolls to class with Levi not far behind and they take their seats. As the other man sits down David can feel his body radiating heat and pink colors his cheeks. He composes himself and gets out his supplies. It was kind of odd that he had never seen Levi around before, he's a big guy and surely he'd missed a couple Economics classes since David had never seen him before the gym last Wednesday.

His attention is caught by a couple girls giggling and whispering, pointing in their direction. He was used to getting the girl's attention so he assumed they were whispering and giggling about him until he realized it was Levi they were interested in. David couldn't place why but he felt a small pang of jealousy. He assumed it was because the other man was getting the attention instead of him. Levi simply shot them a glare and they quieted down. Class was as boring as usual, Mr. Robert's voice had a way of instantly making you tired and uninterested.
