I crashed through thorns, stumbled over roots, and took cover in a lush, green bush. I was alone. All alone. In a dark forest with no weapons and light. The noise came closer. And closer. My heart pounded in my chest. Would I get found, that was the question. Until suddently....
CRASHH!!! A figure came crashing into the bush I was hiding in. "Found you Cece!!!!!" My best friend, 14 year old Astraea (she was 3 months older than me) grinned down at me with her sweat beaded face and tagged me on the shoulder.
"Aww man," I grumbled. "It isn't fair that you know the forest way better than I do." I was visiting Astraea's parents' kingdom, the Kingdom of Hushwood, for my 14th birthday. Astraea was much more used to the woods than I was, since I practically lived underwater. Literally. The kingdom my parents inhabited was..., well.... kind of the whole ocean. We lived in the Kingdom of Oceana. Some attributes we had were: we could hold basically hold our breath for a very long time, (Forever with the help of potions and a pinch of magic from mother), we could talk to all marine animals, control all kinds of water, and we could swim really fast.
While we ran back, the thorns pulled and twisted at my mid length dress, and I painstankenly pulled out each and every tiny thorn. I was not used to running in the forest. Sure, I had muscles, but I did not practice running very often. I pulled out an elixir my mother made for me and chugged out the contents. It was disgusting, but it healed my cuts and bruises.
"Celeste! I told you!! You should've worn leggings instead!!" Astraea laughed at my misfortune. I sighed and nodded my head. "Come on Cece!! We have to hurry back to the palace!! The ball is going to begin soon!!"
I winced inwardly. My parents had forced me to come to the ball for my 14th birthday. I was really reluctant to come becaus- "CECE!!" Astraea yelled. "Maybe Celesto will be thereeeeeeeeee!!!" She said in a singsong voice. "And then you guys will go smoochey smoocheyyyyyy!!"
"ARGGGGG!!! HOW ANNOYING CAN YOU GET ASTRAEA? JUST BECAUSE OUR NAMES ARE SIMILAR, DOESN'T MEAN WE LIKE EACH OTHER! PERIOD." I hollered. A few parrots flew out of their perch, startled at my loud voice.
"Oh yeah? If you are correct, explain what happened last spring."
Oh no, I thought. Not that topic again. "That was nothing. He just caught me. That was all." I could feel my cheeks burning in enbarassment. Last spring, when he was visiting our underwater palace, with Astraea and Markus. I had tripped over the prismaraine stairs in out spacious underwater palace, yes, there was no water inside (thanks to my mother and her trusty spells), Celesto had caught me and I maybe kinda toppled him over too........... Anyways we basically fell over into a... um.. really.... weird...... position....? And THAT ANNOYING ASTRAEA CAPTURED OUR PHOTO IN A BUBBLE!! Worst of all, she convinced my mother (NO THANK YOU MOTHER!!) to make it unbreakable. ARGG HOW ANNOYING COULD A BEST FRIEND GET? Just as I started to stop blushing, Astraea pointed at a figure dressed dashingly in starlight and sunbeams. Celesto. My cheeks turned scarlect at the sight of him. My jaw dropped. He had gotten so much older!! I mentally commanded myself to forget it.
"Quick! We cannot let him see you!" Astraea gasped. She grabbed a cloak made of moonlight and covored us (it made us silvery and transparent). Then, she silently called upon a flock of doves, which picked us up by our sleeves and flew us to our rooms. "Get changed!! Quick!! The ball is starting in 7 minutes!!! Meet me at the hidden room when you are done."
Once I rushed into my room, my maids hurridly bombarded me with questions. "Your highness, where were you?" "Your highness, why are you so muddy?" "Your highness, why do you look so flustered?"
I put my hand up and walked to my wardrobe. My subjects quickly scrubbed the dirt off of my body and fitted the luxourious ocean blue, custom made gown on me. I hurriedly applied some light blush, mascara, and gold eyeshadow. I chugged another disgusting potion to curl my hair slightly. I rushed downstairs to the hidden room to meet Astraea.
