At the bowling night, Sloan talked about taking me to the fair they had in their hometown. Today was the day we talked about going, but they never said what time they would come. I waited until at least 11:00 a.m. to text them and ask.
Time passed slowly, and I texted them gradually.
11:03 a.m.
Y/N: Hey, what time are you picking me up for the fair?
11:57 a.m.
Y/N: Hello? Are you coming?
12:34 p.m.
Y/N: Sloan, are we going to the fair or not?
1:12 p.m.
Y/N: Sloan please answer me when are you picking me up for the fair? Are we going?
They never answered me, I was starting to get confused. Why had they asked me to go with them if they were just going to ghost me? I already called them 3 times, so I had tried everything. What was happening?
Days later
I had gone to another before-school meet, and I finally saw Sloan. They came up to me and said Hi. I could see that Alice and Aubrey weren't here, so Sloan would probably actually spend time with me. I guess we just weren't going to bring up the fact that they ghosted me.
A couple of my friends were there, but they would mostly stick to their groups. I grabbed a plate of food and sat down at a table with Sloan. It was silence for a couple of seconds. Then Joe came up and whispered obviously in my ear "What's their name again?" loudly. I rolled my eyes and didn't answer him. Sloan smiled smugly at him and didn't say anything either.
"Was this the person who ghosted you?" Joe whispered again loudly. I got nervous, Joe was supposed to keep that a secret, but now it seems like I told everyone that Sloan had purposefully made plans with me and then ignored me. I was about to speak when Sloan started speaking.
"Oh sorry, I didn't mean to. My phone got taken away" They said regretfully. I smiled. So there was a reason they hadn't answered me. They still didn't hate me, but they might if Joe wouldn't shut up.
"It's fine, let's go over there," I said, sitting up and heading away. They followed me and we walked into a chapel. There was a piano and they walked over to it.
"Do you know how to play?" I questioned curiously. They nodded and started to play a familiar tune. I listened for a bit then we got up and started walking for a bit. I don't know how we got on the subject but it became about trust.
"I don't really trust people unless they're one of my best friends... like you." They said, and I smiled. I was one of their best friends. That made me happy.
"Like, Alice isn't really my best friend because I don't know... I just don't feel that close with her" They continued. That also made me happy. I was glad that I held a higher part in their heart than Alice.
"Yeah I get it" I agreed.
(A/N: Sorry for the short chapter again, I'm trying to go quick but separate the parts. Tell me if I need to go longer or vice versa. Thanks so much for reading Lovelies!)
