Livia stood at the entrance of the grand mansion, her heart heavy with a mix of emotions. She and Dante had just arrived from Seattle to Paris, and stepping into this opulent abode felt surreal. She couldn't help but feel a bit awkward as if she didn't quite belong in this world of luxury and elegance.

Dante, sensing her unease, turned to her and said, "Livia, let me introduce you to Max, our trusted servant. Max, could you please show Livia to her room?"Max, a friendly and courteous man, smiled warmly at Livia and offered to help carry her luggage. She thanked him and followed him through the vast hallway. As they ascended the staircase, Livia couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the sheer size of the mansion. It was much bigger than her modest home in Seattle, but it lacked the cozy, familiar vibes she was accustomed to.Max led her to her new room, and she graciously thanked him for his assistance.

As she stood alone in her new surroundings, Livia couldn't help but take in the opulence that surrounded her. The room was adorned with elegant furnishings and tasteful decor, but it felt cold and impersonal.

She took a moment to explore her new space, her fingers gliding over the polished wooden furniture, and her eyes taking in the art on the walls

She took a moment to explore her new space, her fingers gliding over the polished wooden furniture, and her eyes taking in the art on the walls. It was a room fit for royalty, but it lacked the warmth of home.

Feeling a wave of exhaustion and nostalgia wash over her, Livia sat down on the edge of the large bed. Suddenly, tears welled up in her eyes as memories of her mother flooded her thoughts. She remembered how she had received the devastating news of her mother's death.

In a flashback, Livia recalled the day she had returned from her high school trip, filled with excitement and stories to share. However, when she arrived home, she was met with a police van parked outside her house, and her elderly neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, standing on her doorstep. Her heart pounded with fear as she approached them, her mind racing with worst-case scenarios.

As she neared the couple, she asked them, "What happened? Why are the police here?"The police officers delivered the heartbreaking news: her mother had been in a fatal accident two days earlier. They had been trying to reach her but were unable to due to storms and network issues. Livia's world crumbled as the weight of her mother's sudden absence pressed down on her.

Mrs. Smith hugged Livia tightly as she began to sob uncontrollably. The elderly couple felt immense sympathy for her, for she was now an orphan. They gently informed her that her mother's funeral would be held in just a day, and soon, she would be living with her step-uncle, Dante.

Livia's heart ached at the realization that she had lost her mother, the pillar of strength and support in her life. Even after her father had passed away from cancer when she was just five years old, her mother remained devoted to her and her dreams, never remarrying and focusing solely on Livia's well-being and her career.

The funeral day arrived, and Livia stood there in a black dress, tears streaming down her face. She sobbed uncontrollably as people offered their condolences and expressed their sympathy for her immense loss. As she met various acquaintances, she encountered a man who introduced himself as Dante. He was her step-uncle, a stranger to her. Dante, aware of the solemnity of the occasion, kept his distance, not wanting to disturb her during her mourning.

After the funeral ceremony, Livia retreated to her room, consumed by her grief and memories of her mother. A soft knock on her door drew her attention, and she quickly wiped away her tears. It was Mrs. Smith, who conveyed Dante's wish to speak with her.

Livia composed herself and opened the door. Dante expressed his condolences for her mother's passing, acknowledging the difficult situation. He informed her that, given her age of 17, he would be taking custody of her, and they would be leaving for Paris in just two days. Livia nodded, still struggling to come to terms with her mother's absence, and Dante left her room, leaving her alone with her thoughts.

Livia couldn't help but feel the pain of leaving her family home, filled with the precious memories of her parents. She was reluctant to say goodbye to the place where she had grown up and where her parents' love still lingered.

Later that evening, as Livia sat in her new room, her emotions were in turmoil. Mrs. Smith brought her a tray of food and encouraged her to eat, reminding her of how her mother would want her to stay strong. Despite her lack of appetite, Livia reluctantly took a few bites, and Mrs. Smith provided her with comforting company.

During their conversation, Mrs. Smith emphasized that this move to Paris presented an opportunity for Livia to pursue her dreams. She mentioned the possibility of enrolling in an arts academy and building a future that would make her mother proud. Mrs. Smith's words resonated with Livia, stirring thoughts of her mother's aspirations for her.

The day of departure from Seattle arrived, and Livia took one last look at her childhood home. It was a bittersweet farewell, but she knew it was a necessary step forward in her life. Dante, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Smith, drove her to the airport.

As they bid their final goodbyes, the Smiths expressed their heartfelt hopes that Dante would take good care of Livia, the last connection they had to their late friend and neighbor. With a heavy heart and a glimmer of hope for her future, Livia boarded the plane, leaving her past behind as she embarked on a new chapter in Paris, the city of dreams and possibilities.

Present time

Exhausted from the journey, Livia swiftly unpacked and changed into her nightwear, eager for rest. The weight of the day's events hung heavy on her, and sleep offered solace from the whirlwind of emotions.
