Emma's POV

2011-

It's time to watch the x-factor. It's been a tradition in my family for as long as I can remember. We all sit around the tv and argue about who's the best singer or group.

"Emma!" My twin brother yells from the living room.

"I'm coming!" I yell back at him. It's odd, actually. My family has never had a set of twins for as long as we can remember, only singles and triplets.

"Emma! Hurry up. This one girl looks exactly like you!"

I run down the stairs and it come face to screen to a girl who has the same hair as me, she's the same age, and she has the same facial structure and everything. Were identical.

"Turn the tv off and go to your room." My mom tells Jason and I.

"Why?" We ask in sinc. "Were 18 mom. We don't have to go to our room like that." I tell her.

"I don't want you watching this show ever again. Understand me?" My mom looks red with anger. Oh god.

"But it's a tradition!" Jason whines.

"Its a stupid tradition! Go to your rooms now."

"What're you trying to keep from us? We'll find out eventually." I angrily yell at my mom. Who does she think she is? Keeping secrets from us.

"Im not even youre mother. Now go upstairs!" Now shes mad. She says those kind of things when she gets like this.

"You are our mom, right?" Jason gently asks.

"Let me see my birth certificate." I demand. She looks like a deer caught in headlights.

"I don't know where it is." She says, avoiding eye contact. That's a sure sign that shes lying.

"I swear to god. Ill walk out this door and never come back if you don't start telling me the truth." Im getting mad now. I hate it when people lie to my face.

"Emma, calm down." Jason softly grabs my arm. I rip myself out of his grasp and I get in my moms face.

"Show me the certificate."

"I can only show you Jasons."

"Why?"

"Because that's all I have."

"You should have them both, were twins after all."

"No youre not." She softly whispers.

"What!"

"Go to your room, Jason."

"Fine." He grumbles and begrudgingly walks up the stairs.

"Emma, maybe you should sit down for this."

"No. Is my name even Emma? Why have I called you mom all my life? Has my whole life been a lie?"

"Stop being so dramatic."

"DONT TELL ME WHAT TO DO!" I yell in her face. "Are you my real mother or not?" I ask, attempting to stay calm.

"No." She says sadly.

"Then why am I here? If you would of adopted me, you would at least have a birth certificate."

"I don't have to explain myself to you."

"You kind of have to now. I know some of the facts, I just want the truth, Ashley."

"I've been your mother almost your entire life, don't call me Ashley."

I can't even process what's happening right now. My mother isn't even my mother? Jason's not my twin brother? Am I even 18? If she lied about being my mother for all this time, she could easily lie about my age.

"You're thinking to much into this." My mom says.

"Like you wouldn't think if your whole life changed by watching a simple episode of The X-Factor. Be realistic Ashley. You were never a real mother to me."

"I put a roof over your head. I fed you. I gave you clothing."

"Anyone could do that. I needed someone to be there for me. You never were." I sigh. "Now who is my birth mother?"

"I don't know her name."

"How was I separated from my real family then, Ashley?"

"Well, we were robbing the place and we saw you in a crib, so we grabbed you and ran."

She didn't even finish that sentence. I walked out of the house as soon as she said that she was robbing a place.

A/N-
I'm writing this on my phone, so I honestly have no idea how long it is. Also, I probably have a broken wrist so I can't really type at the moment. So I'm sorry if this is a really short update.

Next Update: Probably, what day is it, Thursday I think. I'll probably update it around Mondayish. If anyone actually reads this.
