Y/N's pov
"Y/N!" I hear my mother shriek from three floors under. Draco looks up from his book anxiously in the beanbag chair across the room. It's the fifth and final floor in the manor, a gigantic loft space he and I share with two gigantic beds on either end for us, both covered in emerald green bedding, a clean floor covered in five-inch-thick silver, dark gray and emerald rugs so soft your feet sank three inches into them, light gray beanbag chairs scattered around, and mahogany dressers, shelves and cabinets holding all our stuff.
"What did you do?" Draco mouths.
I shake my head desperately, mouthing back, "I DON'T KNOW!"
"Y/N Y/M/N MALFOY!" she yells.
I get out of the bed, padding downstairs. I slip past Dobby, giving him a light tap on the back on the way down as he whispers, "good luck." I quickly rush down the flights of stairs to the ground floor and then go into the living room where my mother stands with her hands on her hips and her white streak of hair tucked behind her ear.
I look to her side, where Aunt Bellatrix is sitting, a pleasant smile on her face. "Ah, hello, Y/N!" she greets me warmly. "I haven't seen you for what, three months? Since your fourteenth birthday..." I nod stiffly.
My mother, never one to linger or dilly dally, gets to the point immediately. "Um. So, Bellatrix has proposed an interesting idea, that, um... you go to Hogwarts. With Draco. In one month when term starts. You'd be in fourth year, Draco in fifth, and you'd... be a student. So." I tilt my head, unable to believe the good luck.
My parents had received the Hogwarts invitation letters for both me and Draco, yet they'd only sent Draco because they thought that the more Malfoys at Hogwarts the more likely we'd slip up and our family's fake perfect reputation would come crashing down. I'd been going to Muggle schools my entire life, and had eventually come to know that I would never be going to Hogwarts. I had to fake my own death so Dumbledore himself didn't come after me. The entire wizarding world believed I was dead. But now I was able to go to Hogwarts?
"May I ask what brought your change of mind, Mother?"
"Um. Well, we have decided it is time you go?" Narcissa, my mother, said uncertainly.
"You're lying," I said easily. "It was Dumbledore, wasn't it? He found out I wasn't dead."
"If you must know, he called Draco in to ask him whether he knew anything about Diggory's death last year, and used Occlumency to see the truth, and Draco thought naturally about what you would do in that situation, which brought to Dumbledore's knowledge that you were still alive and well, and Dumbledore sent us a howler just now so we thought we'd better send you off. Next month."
I nod. "Um. Thank you, Mother."
This would be a long month of torture.
