After the competition, the team had decided to walk by the beach one last time for Lei. All of them were inntheir swimsuits for they had just exited from the swimming competition they had won. Surely, they would miss her, despite it only being a few days. In those days, they had enjoyed her company. Very much. They valued her, as much as they valued eachother.
Haru was carrying Lei on his back, due to her lower half being translucent already. Nagisa was bawling his eyes out, not believing what was currently happening. Rei wore a sad expression on his face, along with Rin and Makoto. Haru's eyes were slightly narrowed with sadness, with barely any tears on his face.
As the sun was almost completely hidden behind the horizon, Mackerel had rose from the water with a dagger made out of a fishbone. He held it tightly with his mouth and handed it to Lei, squealing on what she had to do in order to live.
"What did he say?"
Nagisa asked, quite curious and slightly bewildered. Lei started to write in the sand with her finger, tears slowly streaming down her face. Wide eyed, and crying, the team read as their friend wrote down on the sand.
Haru's eyes widened and he immediately backed away from Lei. Lei returned the gaze with a sweet smile as Gou came running in with a bouquet of flowers. A ring was slipped onto his ring finger, matching Gou's, who seemed to be his bride.
Lei started to silently cry. Her face was red and her cheeks were stained with tears. She threw the dagger away into the ocean as she started to dissolve slowly. The wind carried her ashes far into the horizon as the whole team watched as their friend left them. For good. No afterlife, no soul. She was gone.
All of them crumpled to the ground, bawling their eyes out, Gou clutching onto Haru's chest, Nagisa pounding his fists against the white sand, Rei staining his glasses with tears, and Rin and Makoto holding on to eachother as if they were a couple. Though they aren't a couple.
"Lei loved you, Haru. Though we are married, I hated to see her sad, all because of me."
Gou whimpered as she wiped tears from Haru's face, making Haru smile and blush.
"Well, I have you, Gou. That is all that matters."
And in the blink of an eye, Haru crashed his lips onto Gou's, with Gou melting into the kiss.
