It wasn't until I had gotten ready for bed when I opened Audrey's message. I sat down on my bed, staring at the projecting envelope. A part of me didn't want to open it at all and just ghost her. That way I didn't have to think about it anymore. But she hadn't done anything to me to deserve to be left hanging and blocked with no context. Not that she would be anything more than a little disappointed.

My eyes scanned across the projection. It read: Taevon, was it? It has come to my attention that we're both in a bit of a predicament. Perhaps we could strike a deal that we may benefit from one another. If so, let me know. If not, just ignore this message.

I clicked the button, turning it off. Of course she needed something from me. What was I expecting? I should just ignore the message and her as my father had told me, but I had always sucked at letting myself say no to my own curiosity.

Screw it, I thought as I turned my timekeeper back on. It projected a screen and a keyboard. I typed my interest, but questioned what it was she wanted from me and what she wanted in return. I figured she probably wouldn't respond until tomorrow, considering how late it was becoming.

Turning off the lights, I laid down in my bed. I pulled my covers up to my shoulders as I rolled over onto my side. Hopefully, I would be able to sleep instead of waiting for Audrey's reply or think about my upcoming tea party with Lady Madelyn.

The five of us were sitting silently at the table for breakfast the next morning. It had been awhile since all my relations were in the same room together despite not living too far apart. My father was at the head with Constance at his right hand. Raevon was at his left, while Ingrid sat next to my brother. I ended up in the seat next to my stepmother. It was silent. Apart from my brother passing glances between me and our father, nothing was being said.

Ingrid looked up at me and my untouched plate. I caught that flicker in her eye. So I glared at her, daring her to test me. Her response was to delicately dab her mouth with her napkin.

"Are you not hungry?" She asked innocently.

I had half a mind to throw my parfait in her face. My brother and Constance didn't even react, but my father looked up at me. This was not the morning I was wanting.
