I slept soundly, nestled against the warm embrace of my pillow. A dazed sunrise illuminated onto my room floors,The subtle snowdrift clamped against my window. My bedroom was still. Waiting to be awakened by-

RING!

A loud exhaustion of noise sounded from my phone. I groaned, quickly answering the call,The voice from the other side, of whom I guessed to be Yasmine, lectured;

"Wake yo ass up before your late on your first day."

How did she know I was asleep? My voice weakened. From the sound of it she was decently ready.

"How'd you know I was asleep?"

I berated while heading to the bathroom, upon entering I endured her endless yapping. Brushing my teeth and touching up my makeup, I continued to talk to Yasmine the whole morning.
After making final adjustments to my hair, I grab my bag and head downstairs. My mom was getting all her paperwork filed, all while snuggled into a heavy blanket.

"Ah good, you're ready."

I smile and nod, quickly preparing a piece of toast. I wasn't tryna get in trouble just before leaving for months. She inspected my outfit, detective type. Before she could protest I filled the tense aura with a chatty one otherwise,

"So.. are you driving me?"

"Thought you would want to go with.. whats her name? Yasmine?"

"No. She's going with her family so I would prefer to go with you."

My mum seemed taken aback, but quickly shades it with a grin. As she grabs her keys and a jacket she signals for me to "hurry up or you can walk" I swiftly glance at my family photo before jogging out the door.

The heavy ice crackled underneath my car as we slowly paced toward my new college. I still couldn't believe after all this time we still had to wear uniform. I tugged at my skirt, in attempt to make it longer. Otherwise my mom would kill me. After assuring my uniform was perfect, I stared out the window. For a first day, a surprising amount of kids were trekking in the snow. I saw memorable faces from high school, Until my eyes landed on one. Issac. I felt my face darken, fear, anger and embarrassment casted over me. My smile faded as I audibly gasped.

"What?- what happened Sephora"
My mom interjected into my disastrous moment.

"Yeah, no. Just excited."
I speedily snapped back.

I dig my head into my elbow, not wanting to see anyone,Especially him, I grasp onto my hood and flick it over my head. Yeah It would mess up my hair but at this point who cares? I was now dreading the moment I stepped foot in that school. Hopefully Yasmine would be there to cover me.

"We.."

My mum unfastens her seatbelt in the middle of her sentence and announced

"Are here!"

A chiming bell went off in my head alerted me as though not to step out, maybe sleeping at home was an option? Obviously I don't tell my mom that but it's a nice thought. A cringed smile crinkles across my face as I rope her into a hug.

"Ha. Perfect."

i muster through my teeth.

"I've been waiting for this moment my whole life."

"I worry Sephora. Do your best out there"

My mum smiled as she watched me grab my suitcase and wave the car goodbye. Watching her drive off made my stomach churn. I look up to the massive school sign school and scoffed.

"Maryland college for all"

The name could use some revamping I chuckle. I begin to walk in before feeling a heavy tugging on my back, Yasmine came ahead of me and gestured me up the slope.
