Not even eight hours later, Alessio yanked my ass into his office and proceeded to lay into me. I was sure it had to do with the six fully decked out Russian and Italian men in the hall. But to be far, I figured he would have sent more.
"Are you even listening to me, Ilya?" Alessio yelled at me.
"Yes, and no. Can you believe the nerve of that stingy fucker? We have more than enough henchmen. Fucking six. Wow."
"Just what the fuck are you playing at, and I want the truth?"
"I just wanted a couple of guys to protect Nikita, but also myself. That isn't tied to your orders."
"Do you know how annoyed Lev is going to be." Alessio hissed.
"Please, he will get over it. Just be glad this was all he sent." I shrugged. "They are here for Nikita, mostly, anyway."
"Have you actually asked them who they are here for?" Alessio said, before he looked at me and crossed his arms. "I can tell you, three of them are for Nikita, and three are to protect you."
"Fuck."
"What? Not what you had in mind for your secret plan?" Alessio said, smirking.
"I don't need them reporting my behaviour back to Viktor. Guess I'll have to fix that."
"Ilya."
"I'm only going to talk to them nicely." I smiled.
Heading into the hall, I looked at them. "What three of you have the displeasure of being assigned to me?"
"All of us, Don Russo instructed us to work in shifts." the first guy said, leaned up against the wall, with his hands in his pockets.
"Not anymore. From this moment, three of you will work one hundred per cent with me, and the other three will go watch Nikita. I shouldn't have to remind you what the nature of their relationship is." I said, looking at them all, waiting for someone to speak out of line. "While in this house, I will not tolerate you ratting me off to Viktor. As the only Russo living under this roof, I expect your full support. I shouldn't need to say this, but let me find out if one of you goes back to Viktor and spills anything, I'll make an example out of you. If you understand, split into two groups."
They split into two teams, and I felt victorious.
"Questions?" I asked.
"Yeah. I have some fucking questions, Ilya Russo." I heard Lev hiss as he came down the hall. Fuck. This was not what I needed right now. "What the fuck are henchmen of Viktor Russo doing in my husband's home?"
"Viktor sent them over to protect Ilya, and more importantly to him, Nikita." Alessio said, coming out into the hallway. "Further, don't yell in my damn hallway. Ilya, take your three to Vito, have him put them in the guest rooms on the second floor. You three can come with me. I'll take you to Nikita. And my darling grumpy, you can come with me too. We have dinner plans."
"Come along." I huffed and Lev spoke as I walked by. "Keep your fucking eyes on them."
I knew Lev wasn't thrilled having them here, but that goes without saying they weren't his men, and they could be dangerous to his husband. Lev would kill without thinking twice about it, for Alessio. Taking the three of my men, I made my way to Vito's office. He had paperwork to do, so chances were he was here.
"Stay out here in the hall. I'll only be inside for a moment."
Opening the door, Matteo was sitting on one side of the desk and Vito on the other side. Vito noticed me when I shut the door behind me.
