"Daddy." Says Cynthia. "Will you be home for me and Kayden's birthday?"
"I don't know sweetheart." The Doctor says as he picks Cynthia up. "You two have a big day ahead of you guys. I can't believe your turning 5!"
Cynthia starts to fall asleep as the Doctor takes her to her bed.
"Your not going to be here are you?" I say.
"Oh hey River I didn't see you standing there. I don't know if I'll be here tomorrow or not. I can't predict when work is."
"This will be birthday number 4 that you've missed if your not here tomorrow."
"I know River but you know I'm not just doing this for the humans I'm doing this for the girls safety. "
"I understand that but once your done you come home and you better have something for the girls. Do you understand me."
"Yes River."
"Ok. Goodnight sweetie."
I go to bed hoping that he will be here for the girls tomorrow.
