My type?!
"Ugh! So annoying!" Nightingale yelled, her voice echoing off the walls of her room as she groaned at the early hour.
"What did you say? I didn't hear you," her mom called from the kitchen, her hands busy with the morning dishes.
"Nothing, Mom," Nightingale replied cheerily, trying to mask her irritation as she grabbed her towel and headed to the bathroom.
As she brushed her teeth, she muttered to herself, "Why does school have to start so early? I'm not even done with the novel I'm reading." She rolled her eyes, a mixture of frustration and resignation. But then a thought brightened her mood. "Well, maybe there’ll be lots of handsome boys there," she mused with a grin.
Finally! My first day! I thought as I bounced excitedly in front of the school gate, clutching my novel. Suddenly, someone bumped into me from behind, and my book slipped from my hands.
"Ouch!" I groaned, bending down to pick up the fallen book.
"Excuse me, please watch where you’re going," I said, frowning as I turned to face the person who had bumped into me.It was a girl with short brunette hair, looking flustered and apologetic. "A-ah, sorry, I didn’t mean to!" she stammered, her hands trembling as she fidgeted with her name tag.
I glanced at it and read, "Ham Dani?" I frowned slightly but then forced a smile. "It's fine, but I’ll remember your name, Ham Dani," I said with a smile I hoped was reassuring, but she flinched."Ah—was my smile terrible?" I asked, genuinely concerned.
"N-no, it’s not that. You’re just so pretty that I couldn’t help..." she trailed off, fidgeting with her fingers. How cute~ I thought, amused by her nervousness.
"Alright, thanks. I’m Chua Nightingale," I introduced myself, extending a hand for a handshake, but instead, she bowed."O-oh, I’m Ham Dani," she said awkwardly, bowing again.
"Oops—sorry, I’m new here. I was actually from China," I said, noticing the time. "Oh, we’re going to be late. Let’s go!"I grabbed her wrist and started walking, but she suddenly stopped in the hallway.
"Hm? What’s wrong?" I asked, curious."I-I’m actually not from here..." Ham Dani said awkwardly, a bead of sweat rolling down her forehead.
"Umm?" I hummed, looking at her in confusion."M-my mother mistook my uniform," she admitted, fidgeting as her eyes filled with tears.
"Then where are you supposed to be?" I tilted my head, puzzled.
"A-at Dae Dam Middle School," she said, her voice shaky.
"Dae Dam? I’m new here, but I’ve never heard of that school before," I said, my curiosity piqued.
"N-no, it’s not that famous, so it’s possible you don’t know about it..." she muttered.
"Okay, then. You’re probably not familiar with the area either, so let me guide you to the bus terminal," I offered, smiling to reassure her, though she flinched again. Is my smile really that terrible? I wondered as I led her to the terminal.
Once there, Ham Dani looked at the map posted on the wall and compared it with her phone. "T-there’s no way," she whispered, her voice tinged with panic.
"Oh—maybe you’re mistaken, Ham Dani. Let me search it on my phone," I said, reaching into my pocket only to realize I had forgotten it. "Wait! I-I think I left my phone at home," I said, panicking. "I’m so sorry!"
"T-that’s okay. You’ve helped me enough, so you should go back to your school—" Dani was saying when a white limousine pulled up in front of us. The driver’s window rolled down, revealing a man in a suit and glasses.
"Pfft—" I stiffened, trying to hold back my laughter as Dani looked at me, her own laughter barely contained.
"Students, are you also from Ji-Jon Middle School?" the driver asked.
"Yes, I’m a student there," I replied, regaining my composure.
"Then could you guide our young master?" the driver requested, but his words echoed in my mind. Young master? Before I could process this, a voice from inside the limousine called out, "Who’s first? Jooin is here too.
"A boy with white hair, as pale as snow, stepped out of the car. Wow... so handsome, I thought, as another boy with light brunette hair and a soft demeanor followed.
"Don’t worry, mister, I’m here too," the light brunette boy said, smiling gently. A puppy? I accidentally blurted out, drawing everyone’s attention, including Dani’s.
"O-oh, sorry, I didn’t mean to—" I started, but the driver cut me off.
"Then I’ll leave the young masters to you students!" he said before driving off.
"Ah, wait—" Dani called out, dazed, trying to stop the car, but it was too late.Well, they’re handsome, definitely my type, I thought, unaware that someone was holding my hand.
"Then what are your names?" the light brunette boy, Jooin, asked, surprising me and Dani.
"O-oh, Ham Dani, and this is Nightingale," Dani introduced us, still caught off guard.
"Then I’m Jooin, and this is Jiho," Jooin introduced themselves.
Well, fine, I’ll forgive you for suddenly holding my hand, I thought, feeling a bit flustered.
"Clearly my type," I whispered, causing Dani to flinch and widen her eyes in surprise.
