I made a map of your stars, then I had a revelation
You're as beautiful as endless
You're the universe I'm helpless inThe party was in full swing and I still couldn't find August. Pansy and Daphne had come down about twenty minutes prior, but she wasn't with them. I thought about just waiting but then I realized she was probably just nervous. Parties were never August's thing, even when we were younger. And I bet hearing the bass, rattle through the Slytherin dormitories wasn't helpful. I pushed myself off the wall and killed my cigarette, before making my way up the stairs to the girls' dormitory. My hand was hovering over August's dorm, about to knock when it suddenly flew open. We both froze, her in shock, me in awe. My eyes traveled her body. Her pale legs were exposed, and the skirt of the tight dress stopped just below her mid thigh, leaving little to my imagination. My eyes shifted further up the to gold ribbon that held up the dress. I reached forward and touched the ribbon, brushing her collarbone in the process. My eyes finally handed on her face which was laced with beautiful gold makeup that made her glitter in the hallway light.
"I, uh -, you look - beautiful really," I managed to stutter out, and she blushed hard whispering out a thank you. I took a mental snapshot of this moment, wanting to cherish this forever. I held out my hand and she gently placed hers in it. I guided her down the stairs of the girls' dormitory and into the party. As soon as Pansy saw she rushed over. She dragged Daphne, Draco and Blaise insisting we need to take group pictures. She shoved her camera in a random someone's hand and told him to snap away. I was barely paying attention to what was happening as my eyes were on Augustine the entire time. A smile had erupted into her face and her eyes glittered a newfound sense of excitement.
As soon as we were done with pictures a clearly tipsy Pansy dragged her girlfriends to the floor. Us boys stood to side and Draco questioned joining them, nodding towards the girls in the crowd. Blaise agreed, but I chose to hang back around the edge of the room. I enjoyed parties but usually avoided joining the mosh pit. I usually watched other girls, and those who were confident enough to come up to me usually ended with me and her in a broom closet.
This time my eyes were on one girl, and one girl only. Augustine's hair shimmered under the party lights and she looked around in wonder. Eventually Pansy dragged the group over to drinks table and started handing shots to everyone. I pulled August over to me gently and asked if she was sure about this. She did look a bit hesitant but she nodded, so I let her go. I watched as she downed the shot of firewhiskey and winced. I could tell she was feeling the effects of the drink as Pansy grabbed her and yanked her into the crowd. She stumbled a bit until the initial hit wore off. I felt a little comfortable knowing Draco and Blaise were with the girls. But as the night went on, they all started drinking more and finding their own people to dance with. I really tried to ignore it until August was left alone and some guy came up behind her.
I immediately pushed off the wall and made my way through the sea of students. The boy's hands were on her arm, and I started seeing red.
I grabbed August, and pulled her behind me. The guy, a fifth year, stumbled backwards in shock. I didn't say a word as I grabbed the boy by his collar and pulled him to my face. Fear laced his eyes, and I pulled my arm back and swung. The drinks in my system fueled my emotions, and all I wanted to do was kill the asshole who laid his hands on her. I swung and swung again, until I felt hands pulling me away from the boy. I tried to throw another punch but I was practically being dragged away. The boy was coughing and sputtering with blood draining down his face. Good. I hope he fucking died bleeding out.
I pushed the people, who I quickly realized were Draco and Blaise, off of me, grabbed a bottle of firewhiskey, and stormed out of the Slytherin common room. I wandered for a bit eventually finding my way at the far side of the school, closer to the Ravenclaw dorms and astronomy tower. My bottle was now three quarters empty and I knew the firewhiskey was fucking with my head. I leaned against the wall, when a familiar girl came into view. The Ravenclaw from earlier that day who had invited me to the party. She looked shocked and I probably didn't look to good. My eyes were red and angry and my the rings on my hand were covered in the Slytherin's blood.
The blonde came up to me somewhat cautiously, and started talking to me. I didn't really care much for her but entertained her delusions. I felt her hand on my chest and laughed internally. The girl stepped up and pressed her lips against mine. I was fueled by a lot of stupid things in that moment, and so I grabbed her hips and flipped her back against the wall, bottle still in hand. I kissed her hungrily, and shoved my knee between her thighs. I heard the girl moan as I began trailing hickeys down her neck. I was ignorant to everything but my anger. And a confused voice.
"Theo?" I pulled back so fast the girl nearly fell onto the corridor. Augustine. I strode over to August who looked like she'd been crying.
"Amore," I said grabbing her face with one hand. She stepped back eyes wide, and I dropped my hand. She turned to leave but I caught her arm. "August," I pleaded and she stopped.
"Can we go somewhere?" I asked and she nodded hesitantly. We started walking and the Ravenclaw was forgotten.
I pulled August up the stairs of the Astronomy with my fingers entwined in hers. We got to the balcony and we sat, to look out at the stars.
I was still drunk, but I leaned over and apologized to the brunette next to me. She looked down embarrassed.
"Cara mia, please," I said turning to her and grabbing both her hands in mine. She looked into my eyes, and I could tell there was a torrent of emotions underneath. Fear, sadness, confusion. I grabbed her chin and leaned forward kissing her forehead. "I'm sorry, August."
"It's okay, Theo," she whispered, brushing her fingers over my bruised, bloody knuckles. "You can't just go around punching people like that, Theo."
"But -" She gave me a look. "I'll try not to, I just get really fucking angry sometimes." Whenever people try something with you. "I'm sorry, Amore. I never meant to scare you, or hurt you, or anything."
Her eyes flicked up to mine, and she smiled. I kissed her forehead again and settled down next to her, leaning against the wall behind me.
"The stars are so beautiful tonight," she said, resting her head against my shoulder. Yea, they are. I was looking at Augustine, admiring her features. Her brown curls, her gentle eyelashes, and the mascara that trailed down her face. Even crying she was beautiful. I reached over and cleaned her dried tears with my fingers. Her beauty was infinite. Endless, even. I loved her with every fiber of my being. She made me feel everything at once, and she made every emotion burn thousands of times brighter. She was all consuming, and I wanted her to consume me. She was the universe I was helpless in.
A/N: Once, I write every chapter and can tie a song into it, I would love to add it in the way I did here. I am thinking about adding this to the beginning of the chapter, but IDK if I want to disrupt the visual flow of the chapter. We'll see.
