Snowfrost crouched quietly between large fern stalks. Her white ears twitched alertly as she tensely watched a little red robin a few tail lengths in front of her.
Her tail twitched briefly over the white moss, then, without thinking twice, she shot out of the protective bushes.

The robin let out a shrill whistle in shock before long, sharp claws dug into its body. Satisfied with her prey, she lowered her head and quickly killed the bird with a skillful bite to the neck.

"Thank you, StarClan. Thank you for this bird that died to feed the Clan." Snowfrost murmured her words softly into the sky as she took the dead bird in her mouth and turned away.
As the white cat ran deeper into the forest, the litter and bushes also became darker. Where the sun's rays don't reach as often, hazel bushes and fern fronds have become tougher.

After a while she came to a clearing surrounded by dense blackberry bushes and fern fronds.
She looked around briefly, her ears twitching attentively, then she slipped lightly through a small, almost invisible tunnel that led to the camp.

When she arrived in the clearing, the smell of many cats hit her sensitive nose. She purred as the smells seemed familiar. The white she-cat quickly crossed the clearing, her paws drumming barely audibly on the flattened earth.

A cat, as gray as the stone ground near the stream, trotted joyfully to the huntress. "Hello, Snowfrost." he meowed happily. His ears twitched in embarrassment as he looked into her ice blue ones.

"Greetings, Mistypelt. How are you?" Snowfrost bowed her white head in a friendly manner, placed the robin on the food supply, and then sat down next to the gray cat.
"I'm great, thank you." he also sat down. A small group of kittens stumbled across their path. A small, red she-cat, with eyes as green as the forest, crashed into the middle of Snowfrost.

"Oh!" the kitten opened her eyes in shock. "Snowfrost... I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention, believe me!"

The white she-cat blinked good-naturedly. "It's all good, nothing happened." she purred. The other kittens came along too.
"Flamekit! be careful!" A small, brown kitten padded small-footed towards the red one. "Did you apologize?" Flamekit reared his head angrily. "Of course, Chestnutkit!"

"Do you really think I'm as hollow as a fox cub?" She looked annoyed at the brown kitten as she picked herself up on her paws and trotted over to the group.

"Pfff. you're an old fox heart." Chestnutkit mumbled quietly so her red friend didn't hear her. Snowfrost suppressed a purr. When the kittens left, she stood up and waved Mistyfur towards her with her tail.

"I'm assigned to patrol, do you want to come with me?" she meowed pleadingly to him while looking into his brown eyes. He purred. "Gladly." The white she-cat twitched her ears contentedly, then she turned away and ran to the blackberry tunnel, the tom-cat followed her.

A few meters from the camp, the two cats increased their pace. "Where are we actually going?" Mistypelt meowed questioningly.
"I thought we could go to the two-legged place to see if there are any strays or dogs running around freely there." the she-cat wondered aloud. "A good idea." meowed the gray cat. He caught up until both cats' shoulders touched.

A warm feeling spread through Snowfrost as she walked next to her clanmate. She was very happy that the tom-cat accompanied her. "Snowfrost...", Mistypelt skillfully jumped over a small stream, the white she-cat followed suit. "You're very smart, you know that?" He looked at her questioningly, waiting for her to answer.

The she-cat felt hot under her fur and quickly looked down to avoid having to look into his eyes. "Uhh, thank you. I'm glad." She stuttered slowly, not knowing what to say.

The tom cat purred. "You're embarrassed." He remarked happily. Snowfrost opened her eyes in shock. Has that her? "No!" She called quickly as she slipped under fern fronds.
"Oh but!" Mistypelt raised his head joyfully as he tried to catch up with the she-cat. "Admit it." "Never in my life." Snowfrost muttered. She was already embarrassed enough that the tom-cat said she was smart.

Mistypelt was about to say something about it, but white interrupted him. "Be quiet!" She ducked under a small bush. "Over there, do you see the rabbit on the grass?"

The gray one followed her gaze in silence. "Yes." he whispered. "let's chase it." He looked at her again, she nodded. Snowfrost was actually supposed to hunt for her clan, but at the moment she was so hungry that she just had to eat.

After all, they were patrolling, not hunting. With these thoughts she calmed down. "It's best we split up." she murmured. "Then it will be easier to catch the rabbit." The tip of her bulwark twitched excitedly.
Mistypelt nodded again and slunk away. The she-cat watched her prey silently with her eyes while her clan mate crept to the other side of the grassy clearing.

After the tom-cat was in position to grab the rabbit, he twitched his tail towards Snowfrost. She silently understood the sign and nodded almost imperceptibly in his direction.

With a loud scream, the she-cat rushed out of the bushes straight towards the rabbit.
She looked at her, disturbed by the surprise attack, took flight and jumped headlong into the thicket. Snowfrost sprinted after. She could smell the animal's scent of fear.

After a few heartbeats, the white she-cat was so close to her prey that she could almost touch the rabbit's running path. But the rabbit turned right and Snowfrost almost crashed into a large stone. She was just able to avoid it by jumping onto the stone and standing still.

She hissed angrily and extended her claws. She almost had the rabbit, and now it had gotten away from her. Their only hope now was Misttypelt. She quickly looked around, no one was in sight. Neither the prey nor the gray warrior.

She deftly jumped down from the stone and followed the rabbit's scent trail. This led them over a fallen tree trunk and into a meadow. There the most diverse smells literally exploded in her nose. Snowfrost looked around frantically. So she would never be able to pick up the trail again.
