Aaron moved back suddenly, "Why are you barefoot?" he questioned.

To be honest, I forgot all about my heels. I mean, Aaron Hampton from like years ago shows up in front of me, and I'm supposed to be sane?

"Oh it's nothing, I just didn't want to wear my heels," I replied.

He didn't believe me, I forgot how he could always see through me. "What happened?" he demanded.

I decided to just say the truth, "I had to walk home today and my high heels were hitting my heels. So I took them off and just decided to walk barefoot."

He sighed, "Jesus, y/n, you're f*cking crazy. You could get badly injured if you step in the wrong place. Is there a convenience store nearby?"

I felt my heart race, the worry in his voice, something about that brought me back to those moments. The moments where I felt just like this, years ago.

I cleared my throat, "There's no convenience store nearby, but my house is right there," I said pointing right behind him.

"Do you have a first aid kit, or should I run and grab one?" he asked.

Run and grab one? Is he crazy? We literally met just a second ago after like 10 years and he's worried about something I could care less about.

"I have one at home," I lied.

"Okay, great! Let's go home and treat your wound."

Wait, what?! Let's go home?? Go home my a*s! I don't even have anything except band-aids, and I do not want him in my house!

"Wait, what's the hurry?" I stalled, "We haven't met in years, we should probably go out and have dinner or something to catch up." I was praying he would just take the hint and stop pestering me.

"Okay, we'll go, but first let's go dress your wounds," he replied heading towards my house.

I ran in front of him to stop him, "Wait, I'll just quickly dress it and change my shoes. You can just wait here, I'll take 3 minutes."

Oh god, please let him stay out here.

His smile faded, "Y/n, you know you can just tell me if you don't want me to come in, right? I apologize for being so pushy though."

"No, no, it's not tha-" before I could finish, he interrupted me.

"Did you get married?" he blurted out.

I burst out laughing, "No, I did not get married. I just don't have a first aid kit."

"Y/n, you f*cking dumbass," he sighed. "Go get changed if you wanna go for dinner, I'll quickly run to grab a first aid kit."

This time I nodded, I knew he meant well. As scared as I was to have him back in my life, I was at peace with him by my side.

I quickly went inside and freshened up. By the time I was doing my finishing touches, my bell rang. I quickly ran to open the door, thinking it was Aaron. However, when I opened the door, there stood my coworker holding flowers.

He cleared his throat, "Hey, y/n, are you doing anything tonight?"

I stared at the man in front of me, wondering whether I should be more creeped out about the fact that he showed up at my house or that he knew where I lived.

"Hey, Michael! I'm so sorry, I'm busy tonight. Also, quick question, how do you know where I live?" I replied.

He awkwardly shifted his legs, "I've actually seen you several times on my way home."

"That should be no reason to show up to someone's house, asking them out," came a deep voice from behind. Aaron.

Aaron took the flowers out of his hands and told him to take them home.

Michael looked at me apologetically, "I'm sorry, y/n, I didn't mean to come across as creepy, I really had good intentions."

I saw Aaron click his tongue, "Well for starters you can f*cking disapp-"

"Thank you, Michael. I know you have good intentions, however, this method was uncomfortable. Unfortunately, I'm unable to go out tonight, next time I'd appreciate it if we made plans beforehand," I smiled at Michael as I stood in front of Aaron. The last thing I'd want was for the two to fight. I knew Aaron would be pissed off after I interrupted him, but I'd much rather deal with him myself than get my coworker involved.

"Once again, I apologize, y/n. I'll let you enjoy your plans for tonight..?" he said as he raised an eyebrow at Aaron behind me. "I'll see you at work tomorrow then," he said as he bid farewell and left.

As soon as he left, I could feel Aaron fuming behind me. I slowly turned around, scared to be face-to-face with him. I was suddenly spun to face him, startled, I stumbled backwards. I felt a pair of arms steady me, however, their grip around me tightened. I looked up, "Aaron-"

He cut me off, "Save it, get inside the house for now."

I studied his face, I couldn't figure out what had pissed him off so much. Was it because he showed up unannounced? Had he figured out I was uncomfortable?

My thoughts were interrupted as he nudged me to move. I quickly went back inside as he followed.
