Strings of Fate

chapter 1

Our story takes place in season 3, where the Buckley sisters would soon realize all the stranger things that happen in Hawkins.

(some fluff before the actual beginning of season 3)

Hawkins, 1985

I sat by my desk with my Walkman softly playing Enter Sandman by Metallica, when there was a loud knock on my door. Y/n Y/N! Come on, lets go! my sister yelled through the wooden door of my bedroom. I look over to the clock on my desk, the time reading 10:58. The realisation soon hitting that I was supposed to go with my sister to Starcourt mall to look for jobs for the summer. Oh shit! I exclaimed lightly, Im coming! Give me 1 second! I said as I jumped up and quickly got changed into an army green short sleeve shirt and shorts. I could hear my sisters loud sigh as she called out Come on doofus! Or Im going without you! I hurriedly opened my door to be met with my sister waiting outside my room. You know Robin, some patience from you sometimes wouldnt kill you I said. Yeah yeah, lets go.

We made our way through the crowds of the brand new mall that opened in Hawkins, I can tell that everyone was just as excited as I am about the Mall. Robin and I walked through the mall, and after about an hour of navigating our way through the crowd, Robins eyes landed on a bright blue and red sign of shop reading Scoops Ahoy. A childish grin appeared on her face as she grabbed my hand and dragged me towards the shop. Lets check if they have jobs available here, you know it would be so cool if we both got jobs here and made it like a family business kind of thing – I listened to my sister ramble on but slowly tuned out as my eyes took sight of a tall boy with a cute smile and a lot hair.

Y/n, are you even listen – Y/N! Robin snapped waving her hand infront of my face. I snapped out of my gaze and looked at Robin What? I asked her. you okay over there? You zoned out for a second. Robin asked, knowing that I was staring at the boy a metres away from us. I nodded quickly. Mhm, are you sure? You uh got a bit of drool over there. She said gesturing to the corner of her mouth. I rolled my eyes at her, Im going to go check out some of the others places Rob, Goodluck here! I said as I walked off out of Scoops Ahoy, unknowing that a certain brunette boy was looking at me.

*2 hours later*

I walked back to Scoops Ahoy only to find my sister already slinging ice cream wearing a ridiculous sailor uniform. I giggled as I walked towards my sister who looked annoyed. Dont even start, its a job Robin said to me. Anyways, how did the job hunt on your side go? she asked. I looked at her with a grin slowly creeping its way onto my face, I got a job over there at Macys, I only have to start tomorrow. Thats great sis! Although I wish we were working here together, Im happy for you Robin said excitedly. So are you going to buy something or just bug your dear old sister? Robin added with a mischievous grin. Uh yeah, can I get a strawberry ice cream cone with sprinkles?

What I didnt realise at the time was a mop of brown hair looking at me through the small opening of the window behind Robin.
