Chapter Two

  Two words; school domination.

I plan on making my way to the top from within. You know, I need to see what goes on in the mind of a popular. How they breath, sleep, eat, walk, talk - Okay maybe I don't need to know that.

I sat on my bed, laptop in hand, ready to look up How To Be Popular. It can't be that hard, right? It should be simple, do a few cool things, then bam you're popular. I think.

I clicked on a website and read through the first line.

First off, popularity isn't everything, but if that's what you want then be prepared, because it isn't easy.

  Well fuck.

I exited out of it and put my laptop to the side, sitting in an uncomfortable position staring at my posters, thinking of how the populars act. They act so, chill and relaxed. Unless someone got their starbucks order wrong, then they go insane. I've witnessed it once, I almost died getting hit with a straw.

So, I have to act chill, I can do that. Then there's attire. Every girl at school wears, crop tops and high waisted shorts. Sometimes jeans. The REALLY popular girls wear skirts, heels and tees that are way to tight. Seriously, how do they breath?

I sighed, I think I'll stick with skirts, high waisted shorts, converse, and crop tops.

I checked the time, seeming like it's a good time to sleep. I set my laptop to charge, along with my phone, and snuggled under the covers. Once I became warm I closed my eyes, falling into a deep and dreamless sleep.

My phone went off, making me groan. I turned my alarm off, getting up immediately. I was actually excited about today, I'm gonna start my school domination thing.

I took a shower yesterday when I got home from Dylan's house, so that's good. If I had to take a shower right now, I'd be late for school. I should really get up earlier.

I went through my closet and picked out a 5sos tank top and a black skirt. I tucked in my tank top and put on my high top converse. Will this pass as popular? Screw it.

I put on some eyeliner, mascara, concealer, and lip balm. I examined myself in the mirror.

"Meh, I look fine." I shrugged and took my backpack off of my door handle.

I went into the kitchen to find my mom sitting there on her laptop with a cup of coffee with bags under her eyes. I squinted my eyes, confused about the situation. I pretended like I didn't see anything and continued walking towards the cabinets for a pop tart packet.

I heard my mom yawn, making me even more confused. She always goes to bed on time. Was she awake all night? What was she doing?

I turned around to see my mom rubbing her eyes. I walked towards her and sat beside her.

"Mom, were you up all night? Is there something you're not telling me?" I asked.

"Oh honey, I - I was fired from my job, because they're closing down." She stuttered.

My mom worked at the shop just out of town. They sell books and coffee. So like an unpopular barnes and nobles.

"I'm so sorry mom." I hugged her quickly.

"I've been awake trying to find a job before I have to pay the bills next week, so things will be tight. Which means no more starbucks trips in the morning." She sighed.

I nodded, not really minding. "It's okay, we have a coffee maker and some coffee, I can live with that. Just don't stress too much mom. Go to sleep at a reasonable time, you can't function on no sleep. Now head to your room and get some sleep, I need to head to school. Sleep well, love you."

She smiled at me before shutting her laptop and kissing my forehead. "Have fun at school, love you too."

I nodded, smiling. I skipped the coffee for now and went to school.

I normally dress like a tomboy so this will be a surprise to everybody. I don't really wear skirts, but I'm liking it. I walked down the hallway to meet up with Dylan by his locker. Once I saw him coming over I pushed myself off the locker and smiled. He smiled oddly before tilting his head, confused.

"You're wearing a skirt? I thought you hated them?" He questioned.

"I thought I did too, but I kinda like them." I shrugged.

His smile faded. "Wait is this apart of your school domination thing?"

I smiled innocently. "Alice, I thought I told you to not do that, it's stupid."

"C'mon Dylan, don't you think it would be nice to be popular for at least once in your life?"

"No, I don't want a bunch of friends."

"Sure, I know you're lying." I rolled my eyes.

"I'm not lying. Being popular is stupid. Popularity isn't everything. All you need is that one friend who will be there no matter what. You don't need anyone else, sure you can have some people you can hangout with, maybe two or three, but not fifty of em. Besides, when you're popular, nobody cares about how you feel, it's all about how you look or act." He said, clearly getting angry with me.

"Well, I need fifty friends."

"You wanna waste your time trying to be popular just to have everyone at your feet, then do it. Don't bother coming back to me when nobody's there to comfort you." He slammed his locker door and walked away.

I rolled my eyes. I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around to see Rose and her friends.

"I like your outfit." She smiled at me.

"Thanks, I love your nails." I lied, they were hot pink, I hate pink.

"I know, wanna hangout with us after school? We're going to the mall."

"Sure, I'll meet you in front of the school." I agreed.

"Perfect!" She walked away, her heels clicking against the floor.

I turned around and smiled. This is going to be easier than I thought.

I started walking to first period, math. I hate math, but I'll deal with it. Ryder's and a few of his friends are in this class, so maybe one of his friends will notice me and start to like me. Then I'll date him to become even more noticed by everyone.

  This should be fun.
