A/N: Second request, hope you guys like it <3

"Waaaaaaake up and smell the coffee, young lady!"

You groaned as you opened your eyes and the light from your room coming into contact with your vision made your head throb in pain, what made you close your eyes again.

Soon realizing that you didn't look too good, the smile on Bruce's lips disappeared. He exchanged dismayed looks with his wife and they both approached to talk to you and see what happened.

"Baby, are you okay...? Brandi asked as she touched her hand to your forehead and quickly took it away, seeing that you were too hot. "She's burning up with a fever, honey, go get the thermometer."

"Right now." He said, running to get the thermometer from their room. A second later, he came back again after realizing he didn't know where the thermometer was. "Wait, where's the thermometer again?"

"On the nightstand on my side of the bed." Brandi explained and he ran back to get the object. "Talk to me, what are you feeling?" She asked you, resting a hand on one of your legs.

You were about to reply to her question, but when you opened your mouth, you started coughing compulsively, as if you were going to spit out your lungs.

He soon came back with the thermometer and put it in your mouth to take your temperature. You did your best not to cough, for the thermometer not to jump out of your mouth.

While they waited to find out what your temperature was, they argued about who would take care of you and who would take care of the restaurant, soon deciding that Bruce would take care of you.

Before leaving, Brandi covered you up properly so you wouldn't feel cold and kissed the top of your head.

"Tell me, how are you feeling?" He asked, taking the thermometer out of your mouth and his eyes widened when he saw that you had a fever of 101 degrees.

"I have a headache, I feel tired and some parts of my body hurt." You replied between weak coughs. "And I'm coughing. I hate this."

He felt a pain in his heart every time his children got sick, he would dedicate himself every day to helping you get better.

"You'll feel better, okay? I'll be right back." He gently held your hand and kissed it, before going to get towels.

It was funny to think that if you had gotten sick like that last week, you would have had to take care of yourself alone.

You were an orphan for as long as you could remember and never had a family, parents who loved or cared for you, much less siblings. Until you went to that island to see a show.

You didn't know why, but you had caught the attention of some children, who were hybrids of a troll and one of the native people of that island and you started playing with them, even though you already were a teenager.

When you saw it, they introduced you to their parents and when they discovered that you had no parents, they quickly called you to live with them,  to the delight of their children.

For the first time in your life you had parents, plus several adorable younger siblings.

Still, for some reason, you couldn't feel like you were part of their family, no matter how loving and caring they were.

After he placed the wet towels on your forehead and wrists, your fever dropped significantly.

Even so, he continued to take care of you, giving you cough syrup at the right times, keeping you warm, feeding you soup and reading you stories before you went to sleep.

Until, you finally got better, after almost a week of not being able to get out of bed. Anyway, he checked you one last time to see if you were really okay. He smiled as he checked the thermometer and saw that youe temperature was normal.

"You no longer have a fever, no more coughing, no more tiredness, no more pain, yes, you're cured!" He announced happily.

"That's great." You said weakly.

"Funny, I thought you would be happier with this news." He laughed. "What happened?"

You were hesitant to respond, which he quickly realized and placed his hand over yours.

"You can tell me anything." He reassured you in a sweet tone of voice, which encouraged you.

"... I just wanted to know why Brandi and you adopted me." You confessed, lowering your head to avoid looking him in the eyes. "I mean, you already have so many kids to take care of, why did you choose to take care of me?"

He just smiled and brought his hand to your cheek, caressing it tenderly.

"I never thought you would have this question, but I'll answer it." He said. "When I met you, I saw who you were, a sweet, generous, amazing troll that we wanted to care for and love like a daughter. No one asked us to, but we did it because we knew you needed us, you more than anyone deserves to have a family who loves you and we have plenty of love to give."

You smiled and felt your eyes fill with tears of emotion. You never thought that one day you would be lucky enough to have a family before reaching adulthood, especially one as loving as that one.

"... Can I call you 'dad'?" You asked between quiet sobs.

His eyes also filled with tears, that was the same emotion he felt when his youngest children spoke their first words.

"Of course you can."

You threw yourself into his arms and hugged him tightly.

"Thanks, dad." You mumbled. "I love you."

"I love you too, princess."

Not long after, the two of you broke apart from the hug when you heard the door open.

"Come on, hug big sister now that she's no longer contagious!" Brandi exclaimed, the kids came into the room screaming excitedly and surrounded you, wrapping you in a group hug.

You smiled and enjoyed that moment. They were the best thing that ever happened to you.
