Caramel Arrow restlessly tapped her legs as she sat on the frigid concrete ground of her watch tower. Her head tilts up slightly, she watches a faint orange slowly glaze over the ice blue sky as it gradually began to darken. Caramel Arrow immediately sprang up from her position and rushed down the steps of her tower as fast as her body allowed.
She corrects her posture as she exits and turns to look at the citadel's peak. This was a special time of day for Caramel Arrow, she had her mind stuck on only one thing, one place, one cookie. The sun began setting into the ground, painting the sky with warm tones as it prepared to disappear and welcome the night.
Caramel Arrow trudged through the crunchy white fluff sheeting her path, making her way around the left of the Citadel's walls. Her heart banged vigorously on her chest as she approached a tall, familiar tree.
I need to get a hold of myself. I do this every day... So why do I feel like this...?
She held her hand to her sinking and rising chest as air puffed through her frosty lungs. She adjusted her ponytail as she took her last deep breath.
Her brows furrow, now ready to visit that special spot once again, she raises her arms and hoists herself up onto the tree's hefty branches. Caramel Arrow climbed, gripping one branch after the other, lifting herself higher and repeating until the young branches above were noticeably too frail to attempt continuing any higher.
Caramel Arrow shifts her attention towards the Citadel, where she finds a familiar cookie sitting alone on the roof. Caramel Arrow stares at him in awe as the gentle breeze blows his silky black hair and the sunset shines a gentle orange glow onto his features. The platform beneath her feet crackles as she carefully steps onto the roof with him. Dark Choco turns as Caramel Arrow makes her presence known, he softly curves his mouth up into a smile to greet her. Caramel Arrow freezes up for a split second as she beholds that adorable look on Dark Choco's precious face.
Caramel Arrow feels strawberry jam rush up to her cheeks, she hides her flustered smile under her palm as she hastily seats herself next to him. Caramel Arrow holds her legs up to her chest and shoves her face into her knees. She suddenly feels a gentle touch to her shoulder.
"Caramel Arrow... are you ok...?" Dark Choco softly asks as he leans forward a bit.
Caramel Arrow tilts her head and timidly puts her eyes on Dark Choco's lips.
"I'm fine... I'm just not feeling like myself today..." Caramel Arrow smirks to laugh this off whilst redirecting her sight elsewhere.
"Are you sure...? You can talk to me, you know." Dark Choco soon finds himself avoiding eye contact with her as well, his face reddens enough to where it's barely noticeable.
Caramel Arrow looks down at the vast range of trees and hills below the cliff that the Citadel stood upon. Dark Choco takes the hint and does the same as he contemplates what Caramel Arrow might be thinking right now. Dark Choco holds his hands to his sides and pinches a small corner of his cape.
Caramel Arrow can't get herself to look at Dark Choco. Her mind is racing with thoughts as she feels butterflies fluttering inside her stomach and her heart once again pounding away at her chest. With all her courage, she releases an arm from her knee and lowers it to her side.
She ever so slowly creeps her hand towards Dark Choco's, Caramel Arrow tightens her eyes shut as she anticipates contact. Caramel Arrow's fingertips soon touch with Dark Choco's. Dark Choco curiously looks at Caramel Arrow, who remains facing away from him, sitting all curled up with an arm stretched towards him.
Caramel Arrow takes a breath and mutters as she turns to him, "Are we too old... to hold hands...?"
Dark Choco's eyes widen a bit, he begins to get butterflies as he considers her question.
