APRIL WAS WALKING DOWN THE HALLWAY WHEN she was met with the very unpleasant face of Elijah Blake walking out of one of his classes. She did what she usually did in this situation and just turned on her heel and began to walk the other way to keep herself from taking a knife to his neck right there.

However, as soon as she turned around, the school seemed to darken. The lights were still on, but they were dimmer than before, and everything had kind of a greenish hue to it. Also, all of the students and staff had disappeared. There was not a single living thing in sight. That was until she heard a growling from behind her.

She yelped, dropping her books in fear, as she spun around to face whatever was there with her. Almost exactly where Elijah had just been standing, there was a creature in his place. The thing had the body of a boy, but its head was where it got weird. It seemed to be wrapped in some sort of old and dirty cloth, like a mummy. There was a slit in it where the mouth should be, and it moved along with the growling.

"Hello, April," it greeted, and it had an almost demonic voice. It most definitely was not human, and it was very deep as it rang throughout the halls, bouncing against the lockers.

The blonde girl backed up on instinct, having never seen such a thing before. It had also made everyone disappear, and she feared that she might be next. She raised her eyebrows at the creatures, and, in a very shaky voice, quizzed, "Who are you?"

"I am your destiny," the thing answered, taking a step forward for every step that she took back. She was going to hit the wall soon, and she really needed to turn. But she was too focused on what was going on his front of her to notice.

She had absolutely no clue what that meant. Maybe it meant that that was what she was going to look like in the future, and if that was true, she prayed that she would die before it happens. That was not a very good look, especially on her. "What?"

"We're going to have a lot of fun together," it mused, and even though it had no teeth or lips — at least none that she could see — the slit in the cloth seemed to turn upwards into a smile. Even though it was just a slight change, it caused terrified shivers to travel up her spine.
