my best friend she sits by the door
waiting, just waiting for something more
she paces the room wondering when will the time come
5 minutes is like a year for this little one
she laps some water to pass the time
she climbs the stairs
Up and down
hoping this will calm her frown
anxiously she waits
loyalty is her most valuable trait
she will give up tomorrow I say
tomorrow comes and to my dismay
she sits by the door hoping he will show
she starts crying again
as I pull her away
I tell her
I'm your friend and I am here to stay
She cuddles against me and kisses my cheek
But suddenly she jumps and lets out a shriek
She bolts for the door
My heart is torn
When I have to show her that he won't come anymore
she barks towards me and wags her tail
I open the door
and she turns frail
theres nothing there but an empty hall
I call her name as she walks outside
I guide her back in our little domain
but to her nothing has really changed
except one thing
he is not here.
but to her I don't think it will ever be clear
she drops her head and sits on the floor
waiting
and
waiting
until
he's at the door
