She was walking out to her car, saying her final good bye to Mike when she saw it. The sun was rising, so it wasn't as creepy as it could have been.
There, tucked in the blades of her windshield wipers was a note, a little sheet of white paper folded up neatly. She plucked it from its hiding spot and unfolded it.
She froze. There, spelled out in newspaper and magazine clippings, was a warning, a threat.
"LEAVE THIS ALONE"
Someone knew she was digging and they didn't want their secret out. A chill went down her spine. William Afton. Had he been here? Was this his doing? Did he know that she was investigating his crimes?
She looked around, looking to see if someone, anyone, was within her eyesight. There was no one. She pocketed the note and unlocked her car, stepping inside and turning her keys in the ignition.
Who would leave a note like that? And why? Obviously, if it were William Afton, it was because he knew she was on his tail. But how could it be him? No one had seen him in years. Who could it be if it wasn't him? Who else would threaten her over this? Who else would want this to stay under wraps and unsolved?
Someone who had dirt on themself. Someone who, if this was uncovered, they would have grounds for arrest. But why? Were they an assailant? Had Afton not worked alone? Did he have help? Not many people would willingly help in the massacre of five innocent children. Not unless they were threatened, that is.
She wished she could just ask her key witnesses, her only witnesses, the missing children. But they had been missing for years and the chances of finding someone alive after forty eight hours of them initially going missing were next to none.
How many hours had it been now? It had been years, ten give or take. How many hours were in ten years? The odds of finding these kids now had to be in the negatives. She sighed, put her car in reverse, and headed to look over her research and get something to eat. She headed to Sparky's.

"Ah we meet again."
Ness said as he sauntered over to her table.
