Story 12

1 - something off

"Dear diary, I still couldn't get over Ontario. I got a feeling of my heart sinking everytime I think about it. Fortunately I had my headphones to listen to calming songs as I watch the cows munching on grass throughout the meadows. The stunning landscape covered in colorful flowers. The sun setting under the horizon, all gave me a peace of mind. My eyes were gradually closing during the ride, and the second I opened my eyes, we already arrived in the dawn of the morning. I felt refreshed and relaxed. This was my entire experience during the train ride yesterday. My mom started working as a lawyer and they pay very well here I heard. Our new home looks way nicer than our old one. Moving here really felt like opening a whole new chapter in my life. Everything changed for me in just a course of 1 day, and I'm kind of starting to like it. Anyways, I'll continue writing after I come back from school, I need to get ready else I'll be late"

Kelp proceeded to wash his face, brush his teeth, put on his uniform and start walking his way to school. The empty streets made him drown in his own thoughts and feelings. He felt his heart drop once again and began to feel nervous about school. He felt worried if his classmates would be nice towards him for being a newbie at school.
He finally arrived to his new school. He instantly felt something off about the environment. The lack of lighting in the building and the loudness made him feel sort of depressed.

Since the bell was about to ring, he looked around to ask someone for directions. He went up to a stylish and nice looking young man and asked him
"Hey, sorry to bother you but where is class 12/C?"

"Oh, that is the class I'm in!" Replied the young man.

Kel: "Oh um, what a coincidence haha!"
???: "If you want you can come with me and I'll show you where the class is"
Kel: "That would be perfect thank you"
???: "No problem"

They were awkwardly walking a quite lengthy amount to their class but then the guy suddenly broke the silence with;

???: "You're the new kid right?"
Kel: "Yep!"
???: "Welcome to Sky High! I can tour you around the whole school and introduce you to some of my friends during recess... that is if you want."
Kel: "Thank you so much! I was afraid of being alone so this means a lot to me."
???: "You could hang out, sit with us at lunch if you ever feel lonely, and I almost forgot to ask, what is your name?"
Kel: "Oh erm, my name is Kelp Teminite, and you?"
Inv: "What a unique name, I've never heard of it before. My name is Inver Istegal. But you can call me Inf for short if you want"
Kel: "Inver is such a cool name, my name is literally just a plant in the sea... besides that, you can call me-- well.. I guess you can't really shorten Kelp any further"
Inv: "Hahaha, you're pretty funny, I like you"

Kelp's eyes shined like stars as soon as he heard that because he saw Inver as the cool kid.

Inv: "Aaand here we are, this will be your new class."
Kel: "wow, it is pretty far."

Kelp started looking around for a place to sit in but couldn't find any empty seats.

Kel: "Where do I sit?"
Inv: "You can sit beside me, I usually like sitting alone but I'll make an exception for you. Not like you have anywhere else to sit anyways."
Kel: "Okay thank you"

Kelp sat next to Inver and they started to get to know eachother by asking eachother questions and stuff

Kel: "You know, you feel really familiar to me. Have I known you before?"
Inv: "I don't know, I can't really remember knowing someone named Kelp"
Kel: "What primary school did you go to?"
Inv: "...rosetown primary"
Kel: "That's where I remember you from! OMG now it all makes sense! We were best friends back in 1st grade remember?"
Inv: "I think I do remember that! How did our friendship end anyways?"
Kel: "We lost contact with eachother after you moved here to this city. I MISSED YOU SO MUCH THOUGH! It's such a coincidence we ended up in the same exact class"

Kelp and Inver hug eachother tightly

Inv: "Now that we're back in touch, we can be best friends again!"

--BELL RINGS--

Kel: "I guess it's time for class now, what lesson do we have now?"
Inv: "History"
Kel: "UGHHH I hate history SO much."
Inv: "What do you mean? It's really fun!! I think it's hilarious how Hitler invaded po-"

The teacher arrived and started talking about how there is a new student. She called him on the stage and introduce himself. Kelp got up.

Kel: "Hey! Err.. my name is Kelp and I like uh... yeah... I like geography I guess it's cool.. that's it.. yeah."
Cynthia: "RAISE YOUR VOICE KIDDO! WE CAN'T HEAR YOU!"
Kel: "oh... i'm sorry i-"
Teacher: "CYNTHIA! Go to the principal's office. NOW! You may sit Kelp."

He walked back to his seat full of embarrassment

Inv: "Hey, are you okay"
Kel: "No, I completely embarrassed myself over there"
Inv: "I don't think so, In fact you did very well and I--"
Teacher: "Boys, stop talking back there."

Kelp started zoning out as the teacher was talking about WW2. He was still in the effect of the memories he made back in Rosetown. Before he knew it, the recess bell rang and he got startled."

Inv: "Okay, let's get up and let me be your tour guide around the school."

They both started walking around the school

Inv: "So first of all, this is the main area where the teachers, the principal and the first aid are. So if you ever get detention or get injured you're going to need to go here. Then we have the soccer field, basketball court and volleyball court if you're interested in any type of sports. This is the janitors room, it's where the janitor usually sit around or store their supplies, so if anything gets messy you can come here and ask for the janitors. Then there is th--"
Kel: "Hold up, what's that?"
Inv: "What's what?"
Kel: "That very bright and attention seeking poster on the wall. I keep on seeing it everywhere, but I can't ignore it anymore"
Inv: "Oh, that's the gameshow everyone's been making such a big deal about, TBH I'm not really into these types of stuff but I heard the prize was a wish! Isn't that marvelous"
Kel: "A wish?! So you can wish for anything?? Like a genie??"
Inv: "Yup!"
Kel: "Oh my god.. where do I sign up??"
Inv: "I don't know.. I heard it's kind of dangerous but no one really knows anything about it"
Kel: "How? Can't we just ask old participants of the game?"
Inv: "The thing is that, most of the participants were reported to be missing and haven't been found ever since, and if you ask the remaining participants well, they don't seem to remember anything about the gameshow happening AT ALL. Which I find extremely shady and creepy."
Kel: "oh wow... now i'm kind of creeped out too, we probably should stay away from it."
Inv: "Exactly. Now let's move on and continue our school tour!"
