1. What's going on?

Nyx Pov:

"I'M GONNA BE JOBLESS FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE." I cried out dramatically, startling the poor girl beside me.

"You aren't gonna be jobless Nyx, I'm sure you'll find a job sooner or later." Mae sighed, trying to comfort me about the horrible interview I just went through.

"Easy for you to say while working as a Chef at a five star restaurant." I said while rolling my eyes.

Mae is my childhood best friend, we both met years ago and instantly became soulmates the moment we met.
I don't think I would've survived so long without her, she is the only reason I'm living to be honest.

Unfortunately, Her family had to move to America due to business purposes 2 years ago, and now she lives there and works in a Five star restaurant diner as a chef.

She occasionally comes to visit me in Korea and I've been been to America to visit her a few times aswell. We almost talk every single day, no matter the time zone difference, since I rarely sleep anyways.

"Well, a Manager's job is way harder than a chef's, and- and..." Mae said, trying to find words to assure me, but didn't seem to have any luck.

After a few more moments of her trying to think of something to say, she finally gave up and sighed.

"Nyx, look I know its hard to find a job, but come on, you've been looking for like only four months now-"

"ONLY?!?"

"Fine, you've been looking for painfully long, eternally slow four months, but you just have to find the right place to start again. I mean, you were thriving with money in your last job. It's not your fault the company had to shut down, not like you got fired or anything."

"Well yeah, but the scandal affair is making things more difficult." I said with my head hanging low.

I used to work at a highly succesful and major company as a high ranking manager, but things went down when the CEO got involved in a major controversy, which revealed that he was stealing from their invester's and illegially importing it.

The case was taken to court and the company was eventually shut down. And although I didn't even know anything about the illegial business, much less participate in it, I was still dragged into the accusations due to my position as a close manager to the CEO.

And even though I was later proved innocent and the controversy had already ended 4 months ago, I STILL couldn't find a new job due to my direct connection with the scandal.

Companies were very eagar to employ me, until they saw where I previously worked, and the hesitation and mistrust increased by ten folds.

Though there wasn't really a problem with money, due to my amazing savings from my last job, but I would have to find a job sooner or later anyways. The savings couldn't last me a lifetime. [unfortunatley infinite money glitch doesn't exist]

"Its okay, companies are eventually going to see your value and are so going regret not hiring you. And anyways, if you still don't find a job, You can come stay with me!" Mae exclaimed entusiastically.

"Halfway across the world?" I asked, cocking an eyebrow at her.

"Well...you could find way better jobs there and if worse comes to worse, you can stay free at my house!" She said again passionately.

"So you're gonna be my sugar mommy?" I asked with a smirk on my face.

Her eyes widened and her whole face reddened. "I- I....WHY ARE YOU SO FLIRTY!?" She scolded me, her burning face buried in her hands.
