Treepaw and Sunpaw sat in the clearing, chattering away as they shared a plump sparrow, plucking out the feathers inbetween their words.
"I know I'll do great! I'm always the first to catch prey when we patrol." Treepaw purred loudly, plucking out the last few feathers before digging into the bird laid between her paws.
"If there will be any prey to catch-" Sunpaw's solemn mew was cut off by Treepaw's growl. "Don't say that!" She muttered, gulping down another mouthful.
"I'm just saying- Owlsong did say that there was barely any prey to catch. He ended having to hunt on the ground for crystalclan's sake!"
Treepaw stared at her sister blankly before huffing, "Why didn't he do that the first time? Is the little kit too scared to get his paws dirty? I'm sure he didn't even catch it. His mentor must've wounded it and allowed him to finish it off. That declawed mouse didn't even deserve to be made a warrior early! "She grunted, clawing at the ground beneath her in frustration.
Sunpaw sighed,"Look I know you despise him. You and I both do but you can't deny the fact that he saved the nursery! I wouldn't dare fighting a snake even if I was the largest warrior in owlclan!" She quivered.
"I would. The measly little thing wasn't that much of threat, Owlsong just did it before any of us could even process where it was." Sunpaw poked into the conversation, his chin up.
"Exactly! Any of us could have done it. He doesn't deserve to be warrior-" Sunpaw cut her off abruptly.
"You're starting to sound jealous." He purred. Sunpaw's amusement sent a growl rumbling through her throat in displeasure as she lashed her tail. The tom whipped back his tongue in alarm, lowering his ears submissively, a faint chuckle sounding from his mouth.
"I feel like he isn't even that special, far from it in fact. He's the deputy's son and apprentice. It was bound to happen but not so sudden and quick. It's almost like the were awaiting an opportunity to make him a warrior early." She flicked her ears, giving the bird another bite before tossing it to the side, leaping to her paws.
Palepaw approached the three, her tail flicking behind her whilst Owlsong tailed her in pride. He purred a greeting to his peers which Treepaw didn't bother exchanging.
"I heard from your mentors that you'll be doing your assessment early today! I couldn't help but overhear Slitheringserpent and Orangepelt mention that they'd prefer you guys being assessed today. They're waiting for the other mentors to return from patrol before discussing it with them!"
Endless talking. No one even asked when we're doing our assessment and I would've done great anyway. Treepaw curled her tail, flicking her ears, unimpressed."Why are you listening in on their conversation?"
Owlsong's gaze grew distant, tension clouding it. "Whilst I was speaking to Minnowflower they came to let him know and I couldn't help but hear."
Treepaw's sister nudged the shecat with a grunt before rushing to speak. "Thanks for informing us, though I doubt they're serious, Owlsong. Treepaw has a point though. You shouldn't be listening so attentively when the matter doesn't really concern you."Sunpaw tried her best to gently mutter.
"You've already had your assessment. You didn't even deserve it, no need to continue rubbing it in our face when all you had was to pure luck!" Treepaw hissed. Sunpaw bared her teeth at her foolish littermate, stomping her tail with her paws in an attempt to shut her muzzle.
Treepaw didn't bite back, neither did she hold her tongue."Everyone here agrees with me. Stop chatting with the apprentices, won't it ruin your all so jolly reputation? You are a full warrior aren't you?" She met his narrowed gaze with amusement gleaming in her eyes.
"Well I- I prefer taking to you guys so that I can... Tell you what it's like to be a warrior! Leaving camp without permission is just so fun! It will feels scary at first but overtime-"
"We'll see for ourselves! No need to spoil it for us." Sunpaw hissed, baring his teeth.
"Hush, Sunpaw. Owlsong simply came here to inform us and you lot are just being mean for the sake of it! If you don't want Owlsong's company then don't talk to him, I'm sure Minnowflower wouldn't tolerate such bullying!"
Palepaw shouldered the white tom, anger flaring in her eyes as she spat."Oh I'm sure he won't, cause the "whittle twom"
Will report to daddy for him to deal with it, won't he? " Treepaw shot him a smug grin."Minnowflower said that I should report any bullying to him immediately, I'm sorry if I sounded brash to you, Treepaw but there is no need to use such harsh words." Owlsong stammered."Oh shut it frog for brains, You started it by rubbing the fact that you are already a warrior in our faces! None of us needed to know that. So why don't you-"
"Hold your tongue, Treepaw!" Sunpaw snapped at the shecat, frustration glowing in his eyes as he curled his lip into a snarl, "If you have nothing good to say then do not say anything at all." The orange tabby's words left Treepaw silent as she rolled her eyes, "Whatever, let's go practise for our battle assessment, Palepaw and Sunpaw, my sister Sunpaw. Not you, you can stay and keep this- bag of bones company." With that she tossed away the sparrow which she was feasting on, turning to the two shecats who gave a hesitant nod before following behind her.

"I don't understand why everyone is so blinded by him already! He has not done anything significant within the clan but he receives so much praise." Treepaw grumbled, swiping her paw at Palepaw who swiftly leapt to the side before dashing back to knock the shecat onto her back, swiping at her stomach." That was swift, Palepaw. " Sunpaw purred a compliment to which Larkpaw giggled," Thanks, but Treepaw is way more agile than me, she's just distracted-"
"No I was not. Sunpaw is telling the truth, you're quite quick on your paws." Treepaw shuffled to her paws, purring. Palepaw's eyes widened as she quickly averted from her gaze, flustered. "Oh- I was not trying to make you uncomfortable!" She blurted out her words at the brink of panic, not knowing what to say.
Palepaw hurriedly shook her head, a soft smile plastered on her face before purring, "Of course not, I was just- flustered.. By the compliment. Thank you.." She mumbled to which Treepaw let out a sigh of relief.
An incredibly long silence firmly held the air between them as they gazed at each other.
"Well- take two, Out of the ring Treepaw." Sunpaw awkwardly mewed from the side, breaking them out of their trance.
Treepaw nodded, shuffling to the side and watching as they tackled each other in preparation for their upcoming battle training assessment. I bet them dumb excuse for a tom didn't even consider having a battle training assessment! I'm going to fight against him and I'll show him how a true warrior is meant to fight and act.
Palepaw bat her hind paws against Sunpaw's stomach as she got flung away from her, quickly recoiling before lunging forward, slamming her sheathed paws at her face, firmly keeping her on the ground. Treepaw seemed impressed and stood to her paws. Palepaw smiled softly, "And to think you were calling me swift!"
"Because you are! She just so happened to have the upper paw that's all. You will make a great warrior Palepaw, whether you choose to have a battle assessment or not. I just know you will show all the other clans what for!" She said proudly to which Palepaw purred, her ocean blue eyes bubblier than ever.
"You will as well, all three of us. Together we will make Owl clan the fiercest clan in the forest!" She said triumphantly as she leapt into a boulder, looking on into the horizon, her friends sat alongside her.
