Finding My "Real" Man

My name is Andrea Marie Mathews, although I have always preferred to go by Andi. I am 24 years old and stand at a whapping 5'3" tall. I have long, dark brown hair that ends a little above my waist and  green eyes. My best friend who will be a major part of my story is Gwendolyn Kathleen Watson, but she has always hated her name, so Kat it is... She is the same age as me and is about 2 or so inches taller. She has blue and purple hair (at the moment) and blue eyes. She has a lot of tattoos and several piercings. She has always been the crazy to my calm. She loves a good party and doesn't really give a shit what anyone thinks about her. I, on the other hand, am much more of the calm, staying in on a Friday night watching my favorite movie or TV show, maybe even reading a good book type of girl. You know the typical "good girl"... We help balance each other out a lot. She helps me loosen up, and I help to tame her when needed.

Kat is my best friend and basically my sister. We grew up in a small town in Kentucky together and moved Owensboro (about an hour and a half) from our hometown when we turned 18. She always keeps it 100% with me even though I don't always like what she has to say. As Kat likes to say, I have always been more into the "pretty boys." I don't think I have ever dated someone that she has actually liked me being with, and she isn't very good at hiding what she thinks. This includes my most recent boyfriend... Andrew Calhoun. We broke up a couple months ago now, and I think I'm ready to get back out there.

As much as I hate to admit (especially to her), she was right. That is what I usually go for, and it isn't exactly working out in my favor. At 24, I have dated more of those guys than I care to admit, and most of them have been total tools. I am totally terrified, but I think I may actually let her try to find someone for me this time around. I mean, I'm not sure it could go any worse than what it has been. She has been asking for years to set me up... Now I just have to get the nerve up to tell her. Lets see how it goes.

I wrote this story several years ago and posted it on the Chapters app. I am reposting it on here and making a few edits. I used to write all the time, and it was an amazing stress reliver for me, and I decided to try getting back into it. I literally have not written anything in a few years and have no idea what I am doing, so please feel free to leave comments and give me any ideas or advice.
