A few minutes later, Inez returned with Matt's lunch. " what's the chunky stuff?" Asked Matt. " don't worry about it, just eat it" replied Inez.
Matt wasn't sure what it was, but he knew Inez wouldn't give him something he couldn't hold down. " now before you eat, i need to check your temperture. Junior was down to 100°, so let's see how close you are" said Inez.
After 20 seconds the thermometer beeped. " well, am i getting better?" Asked Matt. " you're down from 103° to 102°, so i would say you are. If you can hold down dinner tonight, you can try oatmeal tomorrow" replied Inez. " good, i think i'm starting to feel better" said Matt. " good, i'll go get Junior's picture that he colored for you, i still don't want you to move around much" replied Inez.
Inez went to check on Junior. " hey, Daddy's awake, and he wants to see your picture" smiled Inez. Junior was happy that his dad wanted to see the picture. " can i give it to daddy?" He asked. " sure you can, but after that, I'll want you to stay put" smiled Inez.
" ok mommy" replied Junior. Junior ran up to his dad to give him the picture. " you look different daddy" said Junior. " yeah, i look this way when i get a bad case of something" replied Matt. " well, i colored a picture for you" said Junior. " nice job on the cow. I like the light brown and dark brown pattern" smiled Matt. Junior was happy that his dad enjoyed the picture. " ok, let's get you back under those covers" suggested Inez. " hey, why not just have him stay with me?" Suggested Matt. " it'd be less work to check on both of you, and you could keep eachother occupied" agreed Inez. So it was decided that Matt and Junior hung out together in isolation.
Junior climbed into bed, next to his dad and got comfortable. After awhile he started yawning. " getting tired, little buddy?" Asked Matt. Junior nodded. " well, come here. We'll just cuddle up so you feel safe" smiled Matt. Junior cuddled up with his dad, and handed him a book that Inez had just brought in. " i'm guessing you want me to read until you fall asleep right?" Asked Matt. Junior nodded.
15 minutes later, Matt checked on Junior. Junior was cuddled up in a ball under Matt's arm, and sound asleep. Matt texted Inez to come up and take a picture. Inez smiled as she took a picture with her phone and regular camera.
" how do you feel?" Asked Inez. " i'm getting a little tired. These kids books tend to do that to me. Besides, i don't want to wake up Junior" replied Matt.
" well, i can get some work done, if you won't need anything for awhile" said Inez. " i should be fine for awhile, especially if i doze off for a bit" said Matt. " well, i'll be looking in on the both of you every half hour" smiled Inez.
Inez left the room, and Matt tried to get some sleep. He noticed Junior was starting to slobber a bit. He smiled and got comfortable. After a few minutes, Matt was snoring. Inez came up after a few minutes and took a picture with her phone to send to Jackie.
" i take it everything is quiet on the frontlines" texted Jackie. " yup, Junior fell asleep first. Matt didn't want to wake him up, so he decided to try and sleep to" replied Inez. " now, they're both sleeping, and hopefully it'll help them feel better" texted Jackie. " yup, and my mom has her hands full with Ernest and Leroy. She says she's happy that only one of them appears smart. Because if they both were, she'd be pulling her hair out" replied Inez.
Meanwhile, at Inez's parents" house:
" ok, now you 2 just play with your blocks while i get dinner ready" said Inez's mother. Ernest and Leroy took turns adding blocks to the tower they had started. Pretty soon, it was too high to reach, so they stood ontop of eachother to add more blocks. Ernest was on all fours, while Leroy stood up on top. The next thing Inez's mother heard was a loud crash, then at least 1 of the boys was crying.
