Chapter 3 -
I wake up groggily at the sound of screaming outside my house. Darkness still cascades over the night sky , shadowing my room with a sinister shadow of the horror that is taking place outside.
My senses finally bust through the grogginess as I snatch on a hoodie to keep from the frigid air outside. Bounding down my steps , I dash out the front door towards the center of the town.
The scene that swallows me whole when I step foot in the city circle is pure utter horror. Bodies lie and pile on top of one another polluting the air with the smell of death.
Groans and cries of pain shoot through air like knives. Many lie helpless and wounded while other are steadily fighting against what I believe to be rouges.
The foul retched scent of them confirm my theory. Our pack warriors dare through the storm as they fight for their lives as well as everyone else who might survive this attack.
Sirens wail out above head sending the whole place into even more chaos. Alpha's and beta's come bounding in and take action instantly.
The overpowering smell of blood and death overrides me as I scramble backwards into the woods. A blood curdling scream emits through the circle of fighting and that is enough to have me stand up and take off through the forest towards my house.
My legs move on their own account barreling me towards my home. My only safety at this current moment. But with my luck , a vicious snarl erupts from behind me as I'm tackled and pinned by my throat.
I struggle to breathe as the rouge presses his paw deeper into my windpipe making it near impossible. My claws extend as I swipe across his face leaving deep lashes as a result.
He yelps moving backwards to recollect himself from the pain. I take that time to spring into attack mode. I quickly shift into my large snow white wolf baring my canines at him challenging him to a fight to the death.
He returns the snarl as he pounces for me. Knowing his tactic all to well , I swiftly move to the side and lunge forward snapping my canines down onto his left flank. He howls in pain as he rips away from my jaws.
A large gaping hole pours of blood from the flank. His eye narrow viciously as he lunges again. I swiftly move to the side , but he catches on and snaps his jaws down on my shoulder. I yelp and use my hind leg to kick him off.
He bounces off a tree snarling as I take in the extent of my injury. It isn't too terribly deep but it will take a few minutes to heal. A few minutes that I may not have.
He lowers down ready to pounce at me again when a huge black wolf plows into him. This sends his flying into yet another tree. I growl at the black wolf ready to defend myself when I see the eyes of the wolf belong to my brother , Parker.
A bit of relief floods my veins knowing he is okay. He tears the rouge to shreds within seconds.
'What the hell Vendetta?! You could have been killed! I told you to stay at home!' His voice booms through mindlink making me shake a bit in submission.
'I heard screaming Parker! What was I suppose to do? Sit there and just listen to it?!' I growled back as picks me up by the scruff of my neck. I fight the urge to tell him to put me down so I can fight along side the others.
'I'm taking you to the cellars. Most of the women and children are already there in hiding. You will stay there until either dad or I come get you out manually. Do you understand Vendetta?' His tone was laced with authority and power. But even deep down you could hear his concern and worry.
