The darkness of the night had settled over my town, creating a dark and foggy atmosphere. It was the kind of night that felt like you were in a dream, yet still so present in reality. The glow of the moon cast a gentle aura over the town, presenting a lovely and peaceful atmosphere. My childhood was spent in a hot, dry country like "Agaltah". A country with white concrete houses and metal halide street lights that were orange in color. The weather was hot and unpleasant, which made me sick at times. The houses were made of white concrete which I hated, and with little greenery. Overall, it was a place that felt cold and sterile, lacking the charm and warmth of a lively and vibrant place. But "Vaxhall", it was nothing like Agaltah. It was a place that had more life and nature, a place where I could feel connected to my surroundings and where the weather wouldn't make me sick. It was different just in the way I imagined. It had a distinct charm that came from its old-fashioned feel. The streets were lined with low-hanging lamps that cast a warm glow over the stone tiles on the ground. The buildings were made of sturdy timber with dark wooden floors and thick stone walls that warmed the interiors. The shops were small, with cozy interiors and unique decorations that reflected the town's unique style. "Did you enjoy the tea party?" I asked Sarah, smiling, as we both walked through the dark streets, making our way to our building.
"Yeah, it was quite amazing, the food was amazing, specially Raspberry and rosewater cupcakes that were topped with rose petal buttercream and Lavender shortbread cookies, they were tastiest, my mouth is still melting to taste it again" Sarah said with an overjoyed expression, means she clearly enjoyed the tea party at Ms. Valerie's house just as I did, we did enjoy the party, it was quite massive but not that massive, there were quite a lot of women that we didn't know, they must be probably Ms. Valerie's friends, the food was served in many choices that it was difficult to choose for both of us what to eat. Overall the party was amazing for both of us and we enjoyed "I'm glad you enjoyed it"
"Yeah" she murmured with a foggy smile, her soft cinnamon hair highlighted under moonlight, and her warm green olive eyes shining in the dark night.
"I knew you would like it since you always mention how much you like attending tea parties and gossiping, so I thought why not I bring you along, besides Ms. Valerie also said to bring you along with me. She was aware that you were my friend and I would probably be bored if you would not be with me" I said chuckling. The night breeze filled the town silence with our whispering laughs. We continued to walk through the night alley, the light of the moon gleaming on both of us and the rest of town creating a peaceful atmosphere. I feel enlightened after so much time, bearing the freedom I always sought for back in Agaltah, the memories of it still haunt me every night in my nightmares making me feel guilty, look bad, for leaving my family, but I was tired, tired from dealing with all the drama, all the fake beliefs or whatever they were, I just wanted to live, live like what I have always wanted, and now that I was living in a place where I wanted, my nightmares were not leaving me still, part of me was still unhappy, still suffering, sometimes I believe maybe it will never leave maybe I will never be fully in peace, that is what life is, right?
"I wanna ask something" Sarah murmured under her breath, her eyes looking up at me before she smiled like she always does, warmly, like a night moon. " How long have you known Ms. Valerie's for?"
"Hmm, almost one year now, why do you ask?" I replied with a small smile, though my mind is confused with her question a little bit, but I don't have any problem answering her as she's my only friend in Vaxhall when I moved here and I'm grateful for her friendship till today.
"Did she ever mention she had a nephew?" she asked. Her eyebrows knit together, olive green eyes darken gazing at me mischievously.
"No, she didn't mention anything like that."
