My eyes gazed across the plain of dead grass in front of us. The grass tall and gold with splashes of green painted in places. As if the grass was holding on to it's last bit of life. Tall, dark tree's stood high like a wall bordering around this golden field. The sky full of dark clouds that looked like pillows laying across the world above us.
The smell of fresh rain was in the air, while tiny droplets plopped on my hood making little dud sounds. I sighed to myself taking in the cold air that freshens my breathing.
The atmosphere was calm, not a single animal in sight which only made it more terrifying. The calm before the storm they say and that only means I had less time.
A huge hood over my head that hung over the face shadowing it enough to not be visible. It was attached to a long cloak behind me that barely reached the ground, I also wore other baggy clothes as well. There were black boots on their feet that touched my knees making my body completey covered, even my gloved hands.
I held a child in my arms that wore very similar clothing to mine, we stuck out a person wearing a red target. Are dark clothing could easily be spotted in this open field of tall grass.
My eyes flickered across tree's as I held the child close. They shivered in my arms only making my heart sink in my chest. I could tell they were cold even in my warm arms. My arm slithered over there body and pushed there head to my shoulder.
"Please hold on.." My mouth mumbled. I could barely think of what could happen if I don't find a place to stay soon.
That's why we were in this field, I thought I would be able to see things a bit better in the open. But I was wrong and so that only pushed me to aimlessly continue on before this storm could hit. Depending on the clouds they were coming from the south East and so I was starting towards the northwestern. Heading towards the tree line, in hope to keep going for my search of shelter for the cold child in my arms.
My footsteps were walked with a bit weight, as each step hit the grass to keep going. The knee high grass grazed against the cloth on my legs. Swaying to a toon as I physically touched them unwillingly from just causally walking.
Watching the treeline reach out for me as we grew closer and closer. I could see the tree's dance in the wind like notes of a flute floating in the air. The green leaves shaking the loose one's to make room for the new. Now near a few leaves passed me as they fell causing me feeling more determination as I stomped into the surrounding forest.
Pushing pasts the large tree's as they there shadows made are surroundings dark. We blended in perfectly with are dark cloaks and clothes. Like shadows in the shadows we slithered past the trees. As the rain slowly dripped down faster and harder. I could feel it swiftly pasting the tree's leaves and onto ground around us.
The rain was obviously coming closer and the winds were picking up. So I had to pick up my pace as well, my stomping feet grew into a jog. Bouncing across the wet ground. As wet mud squished and squashed under my heavy boots.
My worry grew stronger as the child in my arms nuzzled into my chest for warmth and comfort. There little hands clutching on to the baggy sweater under my cloak, there cold shivering body begging to be warm again. I held them tighter and leaned my head down at I continued to run.
I hated this, I hated that the child was cold. I hated that they could get sick soon. I hated how I did this to them by not being prepared well. I could only hope that soon I'll find a place to stay soon.
I slowed by a near by tree as the ran drops hissed and hit the ground around the tree as some sinked through the branches above us. I glanced around hoping to finally see something to help and yet nothing, nothing to help me protect the child from this terrible coming storm.
Moments later, a rumble it heard across the skies. I gasped escaped my lips while the child tucked it's face in my cloak.
"Shh.. Sh.. It's okay.. It's just the storm shouting.." I whispered at the scared child in my arms.
I kept looking around and saw a solid area from a far. Hopefully it's shelter and if not I'll have to settle for a near by tree.
I growled to myself and force my legs to keep moving, letting the rain damp my clothes as I kept the child close to help them avoid the rain. Once again passing the trees, letting my cloak whip behind me making flapping noises like a flag on a windy day.
My breath was a harsh cold as it pierced my lungs like ice. As my eyes squinted under my hood trying to see in front of me. All while I ran aimlessly at this random area hoping just hoping for shelter. That's all I wanted was somewhere to keep the child warm and safe, way from this stupid rain.
By the prayers of the gods, please give me a place no.. A place for my child to stay away from such a storm.
And so I was answered, a large rock with a hole inside. A cave..
A cave at last.
Somewhere of my description to help my child. My legs slowly and stopped at the front of the rocks. The rain slid down the wet rocks around it. The bottom of my feet moved slowly as I stomped to the cave entrance. Letting a sigh of relief hit my restless body as the rain stopped hitting us.I looked through the darkness as a relaxed feeling sweep over me. I looked down at the child happily walking slowly with each step. Glad I finally found somewhere to stay and keep the child safe.
Until I felt a warm gust of smelly wind hit are damp bodies. I lifted my head as my eye's widened seeing a large pair of glowing red eye's. Like rubies that glimed in the night while the another pair. Much smaller glowed of red but felt like blood dripping at my skin..
Not only one but two living creatures were here..
