"We moved as much of it as we could but, we weren't really sure how you wanted your new room to look," Roxas rubbed the back of his head.

"Or if you even wanted one for that matter," Axel added under breath.

Namine heard him grunt as she saw Xion elbow him in the side out of the corner of her eye. Forcing a smile to her lips, she nodded her head, "living here in town would probably be better than alone out in the mansion after all, thank you very much."

The trio of ex-organization members had brought her home to Twilight Town after the group's extended stay on Destiny Islands, and even gone to the trouble of finding time to secretly move her white furniture from the mansion into a new apartment near the tram common.

It was thoughtful really, even kind, but Namine wasn't exactly sure what she was meant to feel about it.

Life had been nothing but a blur for her in the short time it had existed, only around two years all said and done, and not even in one continuous line. In that time she'd been locked up in a castle, shoved into a transporter and spent a week inside a computer program, weeks spent back inside Kairi's heart, and plenty more besides, all the while never allowed to speak freely, and forced to play a role that she never even wanted in the first place.

Now she was supposed to just smile and move on as if none of it ever happened. Supposed to feel some connection to furniture that she had spent a week with inside of a computer program, in an apartment she didn't ask for, on a world that she didn't even really consider home.

Not that she wanted to go back to Radiant Garden, she most certainly didn't. The ex organization members and Ansem the Wise may have brought her back into existence, but she had no desire to go back to any world that they called home. Not where she had to run the chance of seeing her captors faces every day. Looking at Axel was hard enough sometimes as it was.

This was better, no doubt, but it didn't feel like home either.

Nowhere did.

The little vacation they had all had was nice, she couldn't deny that. She had spent time with Xion on the beach and a little time trying to keep Kairi company, but there had never been much of a chance for that to yield any results. Kairi was going to be down for quite a while and Namine could feel every bit of it.

Riku had been the one to pick her up from Radiant Garden, and she'd spent the first day with him for the most part but he'd left pretty quickly after that to try and find his way to Sora.

He could be gone for a few weeks or a few years, there was no way to know. Who even knew if Sora could even come back?

None of them was the easy answer, he could be gone forever and now she had to learn what normal life was supposed to look like on her own. Roxas would be around but she could easily tell that having any quiet moments alone with him was completely off the table, as he and Xion had been glued together for the entire week.

Whether there was something more than friendship there Namine couldn't say, but they'd been separated for over a year and just gotten all their memories of each other back, they weren't going to let eachother out of their sights for quite a while, and neither would Axel or Isa, for that matter.

It had been a sudden change, one that Namine could tell just from the looks on Roxas' face he hadn't been prepared for, but being back in Twilight Town with his old and new friends had definitely overwhelmed him quickly.

It was going to be hard enough juggling all those relationships without her getting in the way...

Then you had Axel, or Lea, seemingly depending on the time of day and who he happened to be talking to at the time. The fiery red head may have let her escape in Castle Oblivion, but that didn't excuse how he had stood by and let Marluxia do whatever he'd wanted with her powers.

And Isa? Namine hardly even knew of him, nevermind actually knew him.

And now she had a room to herself to try and fill with things that belonged to her, when not a single thing in any world did belong to her.

"I appreciate the surprise," she nodded toward the group.

"We can help you move everything into place if you want," Roxas suggested, "but we were gonna go down to the Bistro for dinner first if you wanna come."

Namine held up her hands though, "it's been a very long week and I think I'd just like to lay down. Don't worry about the furniture, I can move it later," her smile softened and the group seemed to get the message that she wanted some time to herself.

"Alright well, let us know if you need help after all," Xion smiled and Namine was at least thankful that she knew Xion could tell Namine wanted to be alone.

When the others had left and shut the door behind them Namine let out a long sigh that she felt she'd been holding in for the entire week and she let herself flip backward onto her mattress. She pressed her palms into her eyes and tried to concentrate on the quiet of the room.

There weren't many times in her short life where she'd been alone with her thoughts and she didn't want them to start shouting inside her mind now that she finally had some peace and quiet.

"Tomorrow," she sighed. "Please just give me one night of sleep and tomorrow you can beat yourself up all you want..."

Somehow she didn't think that plea was going to work out, but she had to give it a shot.

End of Prologue

/ooc/

Hey all, i've been playing through the entire series again lately and today at work this fic just sorta worked it's way into my head. After the end of Followo Your Heart Auto Memories Doll I told myself I was done with fanfics but my heart can't let this one go so here we are. I'm gonna update as often as I can but I'm certainly not gonna make a schedule for it. This will be a slow burn Namine x OC fanfic, gonna go on a darker take of the KH universe without openly contradicting any of the established canon of the games. It will very much be a side type of story and won't be progressing the main plot of KH in any way or anything like that.

The story is MOSTLY going to stick to the Twilight Town crew and Namine and the new character of course, who should be introduced by the end of chapter 1. Look forward to it if that sounds good to you! Thank you for checking it out as always.
