thunder slams against the windows of the old lighthouse. Proving mighty how strong the storm had been, yet again. The wind whipped and whistled through the chill of the air, sending tree leaves flying and outside trash to slip and rush across the wet concrete.
"Jules Verne once wrote, 'Put two ships in the open sea without wind or tide, they'll come together" That's how my parents met. Like two ships destined to meet. At least that is how I pictured it.
Inside the house her father's tv plays, "We are something else, try Arthur's teacher...." The power goes out. Converting the house into utter darkness.
My sweet loving father had seen my mother unconscious on the large rocks surrounding the shoreline. He always did have a sweet helping heart, probably where I got my light from. Tom didn't leave her outside that night, bringing her inside the house. Laying her on top of our dining table.
The beautiful woman's body jolts awake, water-like vomit rushing from her mouth. She coughs, trying to find oxygen that fits her skin. When air attaches itself to her she gasps and looks at Tom. "It okay.." he assures her with his hands up, trying to be the least intimidating to her.
Her chest begins to press oxygen through her lungs heavily, she begins to hyperventilate. Then she chokes on her leftover mouth fluidly, trying to catch her breath yet again. Tom helps her breathe a bit before speaking again, in a very slow manner. "Easy, you weren't breathing.." he smiles one of his bests at her.
Now any other woman in my mother's situation would have been flattered, even blushing at him. But when the power cut back on, she freaked out and grabbed her trident. Lodging it at the nosey television. With a strong grunt, it impales the tv. Making our family dog, ducky run out of the recliner.
