The word 'insane' has never really had a good definition of itself.

Some state that the definition of insanity is 'to do something over and over and expect different results'. Others state it is 'when one loses what makes them human (i.e. their humanity)'. The latter definition however is more philosophical or rather less definite.

Technically, a person who has lost themselves is still human. They still attain their human traits such as opposable thumbs, advanced thought, bipedal motion, etc. However, this is not always the case in the mythological world, where true horrors await to morph those with weakened minds into what they have truly become.

Even in this world of myth, many who have lost their minds, while still much more monstrous than the average insane person, still attain their human form. Special cases are needed if you want to truly see crazy.

Special cases such as a child of the father of monsters.

Special cases such as Perseus Jackson.

50 years had passed since the giant war. An age of prosperity and reason had entered the world and demigods from all around could get along and fight away the evil that threatened their lives as one.

Many who fought in the giant war, such as the legendary 7 demigods of the prophecy, were granted the high honor of immortality. Jason Grace, the Roman son of Jupiter, was gifted immortality and given the position as captain of the Olympian Guard, an advanced squad of demigods and sometimes minor gods who protected Olympus from within. Piper McLean, the Greek daughter of Aphrodite, was gifted immortality and was apart of her husband's elite team as well as being apart of the Olympian Humanitarian Department.

Frank Zhang, the Roman son of Mars, had become the immortal Praetor of New Rome alongside his fellow immortal Praetor and wife Hazel Levesque, the Roman daughter of Pluto respectively. The two planned to retire to Olympus when the time came.

Leo Valdez, the Greek son of Hephaestus, was now the immortal inventor of Olympus, creating everything from streetlights that could catch criminals to trash cans that spat out cleaned garbage. His already immortal wife, Calypso, lived on Olympus and taught school children. She occasionally gardened with Demeter and cooked alongside Hestia when the time came for a feast.

Nico Di Angelo, the Greek son of Hades, and Will Solace, the Greek son of Apollo, both remained in Camp Half-Blood while using their immortality to spend eternity together. William was a well known doctor and Nico remained as the next heir to the underworld, should there need be one, and remained as an ambassador for Hades and the Greeks within the Roman Senate.

Annabeth Chase, the Greek daughter of Athena, had been granted the option of a role as a minor goddess, however the young demigoddess refused and decided plain immortality would suffice. She drowned herself in her work as the Architect of Olympus and became a husk of her former glory for you see, a woman such as her could not be whole if part of her was missing.

Perseus Jackson, the Greek son of Poseidon, better known as Percy, was granted immortality but was banished by Zeus. His trial was private, he had no attorney, he had no jury, he had no rights granted, and the gods had sworn never to speak of what happened in that throne room on that fateful day, and on that cold winter's night. The details for his trial were unknown by almost all and his current location was unknown, however many got the subtle hint for where he was banished to.

50 years had passed since the giant war, since that fateful day, and it hit the headlines all throughout the newspapers on Olympus when a meeting was to be held to decide whether or not they should overturn the punishment of Perseus. Many who currently lived on Olympus had never actually met Perseus, but had only heard of his great talents and triumphs through the teachings of Calypso, the praises by Poseidon and his court, and the remarks about his personal life made by his friends and family when they were interviewed.
