I was in my 3rd class for the day, Math, when Sapphire appeared out of nowhere.

"Katie... that answer is wrong." Sapphire said.

"Sapphire, don't you have something better to do?" I sigh.

"Nope! Should I annoy Ray?" Sapphire asked

"No." I said. You see, my name is Katie Scott, I go to Dragoncliff High School with some of my friends. My friends and I are known as the Protectors, we help protect the non-humans, like Sapphire, from the Hunters, who are most commonly known as Predators.

"So... when are you going to be done?" Sapphire asked impatiently.

"I have two hours left, Sapphire, go bother Tylor." I told her.

"You're no fun." she huffed and went to find Tylor.

"Scott, who were you talking to?" Blaze, one of my friends, asked.

"That was Sapphire, she was bugging me."

"I wish I could see her like you guys can." Blaze said with a sad sigh.

"Give her a chance to trust you. You are new to the team... and your brother is, you know, a Pred." I said reassuringly.

"Ok," he says, looking back at his work, he continued, "I am really sorry about my brother's actions. I wish I could have talked him out of it."

"Hey, don't worry about it bud." I said, smiling at him. The rest of the day went by mostly uninterrupted. The last class I had was English, which I pretty much lived for. In the hallway I ran into Tylor. "Hey Ty!" I yell.

"Huh? Oh, hey Katie!" Tylor said. "Can you please tell Sapphire to leave me alone, she's driving me crazy!" My next class is also History, so... please?" he asked, well... pleaded actually.

"She's already left Ty." I said

"Oh. Well, I'll see you after school Katie!" He said running off to get to his class on time.

"Hehe, I swear, he gets way too excited about History." Ray says coming up behind me. "How are we even brothers? We're complete opposites! I hate History and love Math, which he hates..."

"No idea bud, but you should probably get going, or you'll be late to class." I remind him.

"Oh scrap, you right! See you late Kate!" he says, also running off.

"Geez," I think to myself, "how'd we all get our favorite subjects as our last class."

An hour comes and goes. "Finally! School's out!" I say grabbing my backpack and heading towards the forest. When I get to the forest I walk into a clearing where all my friends were, both non-human and human. "Hey guys! What's up?" I ask.

"Nothing, just waiting for you." Ember said.

"Yeah, sorry for making you wait, I had a new kid in English I had to help." I said.

"No need to be sorry kid." Blizzard said. I just gave him the glare for calling me kid.

"So, anyways, what are we doing today?" Ray asked.

"I was planning on giving Blaze the rundown on how things work around here. Also to visit a dragon outpost." I explain to them my plan for the day.

"Dragon outpost?!" Tylor exclaimed.

"Abandoned dragon outpost." I say.

"Oh... ok." Tylor sighed in relief.

"Now, let's get going." I say as I take point and lead them to the outpost I had found on my last solo patrol. After a few minutes I called Blaze over.
